I just saw 27 Dresses and liked it more than I thought I would. I know it's a chick flick but it wasn't bad.... I'm not saying I would see it alone....

There Will Be Blood.Great performance by Daniel Day Lewis. The film was very involving for the first 3/4ths ,but the wheels kind of fell off during the last 1/4.Still,very well worth seeing, and wonderfull soundtrack from Jonny Greenwood(Radiohead). Jimmy Filmboydoug 01-27-2008, 10:53 AM Wene to Rambo last night. Much better than expected. shrinkboy 01-27-2008, 11:11 AM with 'no country for old men' and 'there will be blood' both taken in within the last few weeks (the last seen just last night), i feel that i have seen two of the finest american films made in the last several years. both original, totally american to the very core, written and filmed by the best american directors currently working. no country...was screenplayed by my favorite author, the brilliant, beyond brilliant cormac mccarthy, and 'blood' from source material by upton sinclair. daniel day lewis leaps off the screen and terrifies; javier bardem is sheer horror. and both completely, believably human. onepixel 01-27-2008, 02:19 PM Went and saw Cloverfield last night. It's a love story and a very intense one at that. Excellent story telling. godzilla 01-28-2008, 04:08 PM I had always found this movie entertaining and when I found it for $5 @ Walmart yesterday I just had to get it. It had been quite a few years since last I saw it. Kind of campy, has some good martial arts action and is pretty funny, but only to the right people...it's not a movie women tend to like. You gotta love the character of Jack Burton(Kurt Russell) rollin' in the "Pork Chop Express"! I'm talking about John Carpenter's "Big Trouble in Little China". If you haven't seen it, I'd recommend it for some decent entertainment. laugh. :thmbsp::thmbsp::thmbsp: daddydlb 01-28-2008, 08:53 PM I love Kurt Russell in that movie Godzilla. Just watched Grindhouse this weekend. Kurt is a bad guy this time. Death Proof is a 7 but Planet Terror is a solid 9. Robert Rodriguez makes a highly entertaining movie. Not for those with a weak stomach or not into gore. I remember going to movies like this when I was young. Last House on the Left and Blood Freak are double that come mind from the early 70's. pmsummer 02-07-2008, 10:18 AM Watched "Cold Comfort Farm" last weekend for the first time in ten years. Loved it again. "While the world will burn, we will quiver." tdst51 02-07-2008, 11:32 PM Watched this one the other day. I know this was released several months ago, and I saw it last week in a tiny little theater in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. Excellent move, pretty slow at the beginning. The opposite of an "action flick". Has a definite documentary feel, which is appropriate. Worth seeing. jimmymagick 02-09-2008, 02:25 PM El Cid. Deals with world arms dealers and the rise of an immigrant from Russia who gets heavily involved. Based on a somewhat real life individual although it is still a Hollywood flick. Barry prisoners 02-10-2008, 11:57 AM Deathproof!!!! Holy cow was this fun! If you like dark humor, great car chases, and comically over-the-top gore and violence it delivers. BaggedLancer 02-10-2008, 12:05 PM War with Jet Li and Jason Statham. Thought it was a really good movie and Jason Statham is probably one of my favorite actors. He definately should have been Bond instead of Craig. onepixel 02-10-2008, 12:29 PM Good Luck Chuck. I had some guy friends over after climbing. After dinner we went and got this movie. I said we would have to get something light hearted so my teenage daughter could watch with interest. I've seen the previews and it looked like one of those harmless chick flicks. We started the movie and it had to much cursing, way to many nude sex scences. Before all that I had to aplogize to my daughter and had to ask her to leave. Me and my buddies were like WTF? Then I noticed stamped on the DVD box "Un-rated Version." WTF?! It was dumb and silly but kinda funny. super j 02-10-2008, 01:47 PM I just watched Across The Universe this morning. Decent, but you can't take a half-hour (successful) TV cartoon and turn it into an hour and a half movie, usually doesn't work. Actually in the show, the R & B portion was only about 10-15 minutes. Gotta say, though, No Country for Old Men is better! 3:10 could have been a very good western, but the absurdity of the last reel was more parody than homage, IMHO. You become one with the earth. And one-legged men don't leap from roof-tops to roof-tops. Kinda slow at times, but all in all a good character study movie. tensleep 07-21-2008, 06:35 PM The Dark Knight - WOW:rockon: Heath Ledger gives the best performance of a villain since Anthony Hopkins immortalized Hannibal Lecter. I could be forgetting someone (the guy from No Country for Old Men comes to mind) in all the excitement, but Heath's portrayal of The Joker absolutely stole the show. I also felt that the writers were very cognizant of the graphic novels and made sure to remain true to the myth - they just enlarged it as only movies can do! onepixel 07-21-2008, 06:45 PM Journey to the Center of the Earth, in 3D One of my favorite Jules Vern novels. I somewhat remember the original 1959 movie version. I loved those old sci-fis as a kid. The new version seemed like it was geared towards the kids. It had it's moments but overall it was mildly entertaining. tcdriver 07-21-2008, 09:22 PM Tell No One (Ne Le Dis A Personne) Highly recommended. Synopsis: Pediatrician Dr Alex Beck has been devastated since his childhood sweetheart and wife, Margot, was savagely murdered in the early days of their marriage eight years ago; a serial killer was blamed. But when he receives an anonymous email directing him to a webcam, he sees Margot's face standing in the crowd, being filmed in real time. Eric H 08-08-2008, 08:46 PM This film looks spectacular, Cinemascope, Color and all that but the first 20 minutes play like something Ed Wood penned! It get's better after that but it's definitely a B picture. See 4 Astronauts hurl through space in a toy spaceship, see them get caught in a sandstorm in outer space, see the flames in outer space come through the open port hole in the ship, see them crash land on the Polar Ice Cap then hike to Bronson Canyon in Los Angeles in three hours, see the rubber spiders, see the beautiful women in short skirts and high heels who populate the underground city that's decorated in ultra 50's modern.
