I know what you mean Soundmotor.
When No Country For Old Men was in wide release (supposedly) in theaters, I really wanted to see it. I had to wait for the DVD release though, as the closest theater showing it, was an hour's drive away. I simply can't see the logic in offering up a major film in only one theater, especially in a market as large as Boston.

True, Clint has released a few "turkeys" in his time.....but we tend to forgive because he is "Clint", after all ![]() ...besides, his good stuff far outweighs the not-so-good stuff Russ |

Some of you Clint fans might not be aware of how the hollywood trade papers sometime around '69 "jumped-the-gun"....so to speak....by rushing to conclusion that 'ol blue eyes Mr. Sinatra was gonna play "Dirty Harry". Sinatra backed out of the role....AFTER advertisments were already made! Here is one of those rarely seen ads. I think it'd be a completely different movie with Sinatra.

Different director (Don Siegel, not Irvin Kershner, directed DH), too.

Man, I LOL'd when I saw that in the preview, while he's sighting down the barrel of his shotgun. I love Clint in this new role as... a cowboy? I guess it's the only role he's ever known...
![]() Looks like a great flick and it's on my shortlist of movies to go see-- my girlfriend (a pretty crazy movie affeciano) wants to come with me, too! ![]() Philip.

I apologies, you're right! After playing all those war games and watching all those war movies you'd think I would be able to recognize it!
This photo helps a lot more than the fast preview in the theatre.

gran torino or Hemi Cuda
As much as i`m a big fan of Clint and worship him much, i`m wondering when hollywood will sprinkle in a pinch of reality in these types of movies and not cast someone in a tough guy role that should be in a old folks role. Mr Eastwood is looking rather whethered these days and i`m finding it increasingly difficult to watch him perform in the manners he did from yesteryear, let alone chasing street gangs to boot. IMO it might be time for this man to be cast in film that suits his demeanor like the bucket list or escape from the retirement home.
![]() Kudos to hollywood for coming up with a catchy title like gran torino to get us out and lighten our wallets slightly again. personally i would have kicked it up a notch and went with more prolific muscle car for a title such as Yenko Nova or Hemi Cuda, but maybe gran torino best describes what Clint Eastwood is: A blast from the past that really doesn`t mean much these days. I hope the torino at least has a blower...........................

I hope the torino at least has a blower........................... [/QUOTE]I will have to take issue with the opinion expressed...Mr Eastwood has remained not only a viable box office attraction as an actor but I believe you will be hard pressed to come up with a more influential cinema director of the last 20 years. From "Bird" to "Unforgiven" to the "Million Dollar Baby" and then the Iwo Jima films. they dont hand out Oscars to someone who "really doesnt mean much these days...
