Godfrey Daniel ! (to quote that fellow misanthrope, William Claude Dukinfield), Does EVERYTHING on that channel have ZERO, ZILCH, NADA appeal to the male of the species ?!? My wife LOVES it-But all the saccharine sweetness makes me ILL... Its just like Dolly Parton-"Too Much Too Much"... the people are always TOO pretty, the kids are too sweet, the accompanying music is too "Piccicato", the whole damn business is just, ARRRRRRGH ! Or am I the only one who feels this way ? The one that set me off this time is one starring Lisa Whelchel, AKA "Blair", the rich, spoilt one from "The Facts of Life", & even has Kim Fields, AKA "Tootie", the youngest brat on that show. Blair, Honey, hate to tell ya, Love, you're still kinda pretty, but you AIN'T Little Miss Hott Schitt of 1981 anymore..Especially when you're playing the mother of the bride..

i agree with you 100% it makes me sick with all of the cheesy fluff they put on. Things do not turn out all sugar and spice in everyday life. My wife and her friend loves it too. I don't see it either.

LOVE yer Avatar, Jbattles...Redd was sorta a Hero of mine, too.. One of his quotes that I positively adore was: "A man should never Argue with a Woman. He should just Dicker..." THAT sort of Attitude would NEVER go in Hallmarkland...(grin)

Thank you Sandy Sanford and Son is my favorite show since I was a infant. To bad the hallmark to goody goody to play good programming. That channel Reminds we first moved to Ellijay 15 years ago the only channel we could pick up was the pax channel. I still loathe that channel to this day. They played of that type of bull that the hallmark channel play.

I don't watch Hallmark Channel much either. In fact, the only channels I care to watch these days are Antenna TV and MeTV, plus a local RTV affiliate; I basically ignore the networks except for the NBC nightly news. For older shows not airing on the retro channels, I watch DVDs of my favorite series from the late '60s and '70s.

A&E used to have fairly decent programming some years ago, but these days...sheesh. One of my favorite shows from the '70s is Quincy, M. E., which used to be on A&E on a regular basis, but not anymore. Oh well. I have all but the last two seasons of that series on DVD, so I don't miss the show's reruns on cable.

I quit watching The Golden Girls on Hallmark because I could not abide the smart-aleck language and remarks coming out of the mouth of Sophia Petrillo (played by Estelle Getty). I tolerated it through the show's first network run and a couple of cycles of reruns, but I will have nothing more to do with the show today. Enough is enough!

For Sandy G.: This is likely OT, but I'm curious. Did you ever get your Sony 36" TV working, or did you retire it and get a flat screen set?

You said in previous posts that the Sony was on its last legs, or at least the CRT was weakening to the point where it was too dim to watch anymore.

Yeah, Jeff, it got sent to the Great Viewing Room in the sky... And I went to the Dark Side, we got a 55" Sony flatscreen. I dunno WHERE I coulda got somebody to work on the 36" Sony anymore, I DID pick it up & move it a time or 2 when it was brand-new, but that THAT was like 15 yrs ago, BEFORE my stroke, & boogering up my knee... It was ALL I WANTED then, saw moons, stars, planets, lightnings... Workin' WAY Over Gross... Wouldn't even ATTEMPT it now.

For a while over a decade ago PAX did have Diagnosis Murder which I liked watching then...But I can't remember liking anything else that network played.

I figured as much, that you had either retired that Sony TV or junked it. It was giving you a lot of trouble, from what I read in your posts here, so it was just as well you got rid of it and replaced it with a new Sony 55" flat panel. I pretty much did the same thing almost three years ago, only the set I replaced (an RCA CTC185 19" table set) was (and is) still working when I got my present Insignia 19" flat screen.

I guess you still have Charter Cable in Rogersville, and the cable system carries Hallmark. What shows on that channel does Lauriann like, besides the one you mentioned? I remember The Facts of Life from when it was on NBC in the eighties, and it was a cute show then. I got a big kick out of all the girls on the show, especially Kim Fields' character, Tootie, and the rest of the characters were a hoot as well. If the show is on Hallmark regularly, I may start watching it again.

Yeah, I figured the CRT in that 36" Sony was fixin' to go "Toes Up", as I've read here that virtually ALL 90s vintage CRTS are inferior to the ones in our beloved Roundies & such.. The only guy I know I'd trust to work on it is Terry, & he's like 66, HE can't "Hoss" around a 275 LB monster any better than I can. My wife also LOVES the cooking shows, the home "Fix-Up" shows. She got me hooked on "NCIS", to the point I find it hard to go w/o my "Gibbs" fix. She also LOVES a couple of the "Real Housewives of---", which I ABHOR. Rich, gorgeous, maladjusted, conceited women siting around whining about how AWFUL their lives are, as they breeze from one garden party to another..

Well guys, it is the Hallmark channel, you wouldn't expect to find something like Breaking Bad or Sex in the City on a channel owned by a G rated greeting card company would you?

well there's naughty greeting cards, why cant they show just a little bit of pg, if they did show like breaking bad that would be my favorite channel (kidding of Corse). To each there own I guess, but our wife's torcher us with and that dam id channel drives me crazy too.

Even the gotdang DIRT on Hallmark is warm, soft, cuddly, & color-coordinated, for Pete's sake...I dunno... Since Wilford Brimley is either dead, or retired, I could likely find employment on Hallmark as playing the Irrascable, Crusty, but ultimately LOVING Grandpa type... As long as I didn't cuss or spit on the floor too much during auditions... I'd enjoy the hell outta flippin' all the young, pretty Metrosexual "Male" types in the nutsack... & listenin' to them SQUEAL.. Mbwahahahahahaha ...

Hallmark is to put it mildly, PMS Television. Lifetime is even worse PMS Television. aka the Female Dog channel.

I mostly enjoy the Hallmark holiday movies.I dumped the extended cable years back because I got tired of the crap programming{reality shows] and sports channels I never watch.

I always watched The Facts of Life with Lisa Whelchel she still looks great today when she was on Survivor.

Yes Redd Fox a great actor . Sanford and Son was a great show.
