True the quality of the content is not quite up to "Odd Couple Quality" They were very talented actors..... But if you get past Charlie's one track brain, there are similarities between the two shows, especially the older 2 1/2 jerks episodes..... But I'm not implying the two shows nearly equal, just a pretty good successful remake as far as the basic compatibility issues go.

Depends on what age as a kid , there was all kinds of great shows including cartoons like kimba and gigantor , spiderman too , batman , superman , Jeannie and so on but heres one that might trigger memories or maybe not , when I got my first tape recorder in 74 my mission was to record every episode of my favorite Saturday morning show run joe run , I still think I have all those audio cassettes , this show wasn't repeated in the new York or boston area , then around 88 or 89 I got my hands on two 16mm films of the series - it was such a thrill to see it again, in 74 was also when I was introduced to uhf and there was a station in long island wsnl 67 , wow talk about putting other channels to shame , they only ran a couple of series every day , spiderman and voyage and perhaps a couple others but everyday was a different line up especialy in prime time , car 54 on once a week on like a tuesday , time tunnel once a week on like a Monday and other shows , they had like their own network style of different shows every day , I think this helped put them under as a station , they spent too much on having such a vast library of things to show on top of going by some audio tapes made back in the day they weren't cutting the shows , so they ran them complete which meant less commercials , when they did promos for different shows that were on they would just put up a slide and a voice would say yack yack yack at whatever time , oh almost forgot captain Ahab , he was like one of the last ny area cartoon hosts , he played things like little adam and other stuff , if there was only a way to get transmissions from year ago , so much more entertainment.

I always liked "Get Smart!" as a kid. It's one of the few early series I've picked up on DVD.

Watched a few episodes last night, and in the face of the conversation about "Two and a Half Men" and the gutter humor that's on TV today, I got to thinking that some of the dialogue in "Get Smart!" was probably pretty "racy" for the time.

I mean, having the "oriental" bad guy, called "The Claw", pronounce his name so that it sounds like "The Craw"..and then have Maxwell Smart refer to him as "The Craw" repeatedly, and then having the "bad guy" trying to correct him by loudly proclaiming "NO! Not "The Craw...THE CRAW!"...

Then having the "oriental bad guy" make a statement about kidnapping a bunch of the wrong blond women by saying something like "they all look alike to us"....

That's just really funny stuff to me.

Voyage to the bottom of the Sea,is my favorite show. I have many other 60s tv shows on dvd. The main thing that continues to amaze me is the sharpness and detail that I see on my 43'' plasma . Sweat pouring off the actors faces, the wires on I dream of Jeannie.The fake settings on Gilligans Island.I never saw these as a kid ,watching on network channels. I think these show up because of the increased resolution of dvds and large size of tvs today.It is fun too see things that were not intended to be shown back then. Plus no commercials and no editing the shows real running time.

Any shows from the 1950's to the 1980's and some of the 1990's.
2000's a handful.

Thank goodness for the internet I've able to relive my young life over again and watch them for free on Youtube,Hulu and other sites.


I end up dropping the extended cable which was a big waste of money since I can watch my favorites online.I dont want to pay $80 bucks plus for reality crap programming other rubbish shows and sports programming that I have no interest in.

The first show that I remember as being "appointment TV" for me when I was small was, of course, Batman.
A close second? Red Skelton every Tuesday night.

Somewhere in the attic is two large 16mm reels of Crusader Rabbit episodes. Crusader had two lifetimes. Late 40's to early 50's in BW. A few years later and another owner, he came back in color. All in syndication. I forget which I have but is probably the later color version. Now off to the attic.

Anybody remember Gigantor, Clutch Cargo, et al ? They were early sixties Japanese imports that had a "Gimmick"-They used pictures of someone's actual mouth saying the dialog... Synchro-Vox, I THINK they called it.. I DO remember they were in B/W...

Fav. was roadrunner I would have to say, and the Acme company, which delivered to
the middle of nowhere, in microseconds after the need for a product pooped
into coyote's head.... I think the guy from google, or amazon is now just thinking
that is a good idea..... Hope they already know I want a time machine just as
soon as one's available.....

Can you just imagine what coyote's visa bill looked like......
