A while back, someone asked if I had a console TV that they could gut and turn into a dog bed. I had a mid '80's POS Sears console with a banged up particleboard cabinet; so, I gutted that one and gave her the cabinet. If one had to get ruined, I'd rather it be a ragged '80's POS over something older that may be in better shape.

Around here, I'm all the time seeing console radios and stereos gutted and painted in some hideous color combination, all for the sake of being "hip." I guess these idiots are too stupid to realize that they can be repaired and used in the 21st century. Or, they plain don't care - if it doesn't have a touch screen on it, they think it's trash.

A while back, my former neighbor gave me a '48 Magnavox console radio/record player that had been passed down to him. When he first got it, I asked him to give me first shot if he ever decided to get rid of it. He said he'd leave it to me in his will. Recently, their health has declined and they are downsizing; so, he offered it to me. His daughter wanted it, for the purpose of gutting it for a TV cabinet; and, she got mad when he wouldn't give it to her. He told her that he promised it to me first and he knew that I'd take care of it.
