Thanks for the info. I was wondering if it could be a '64 model judging by the "D4" in the serial # designating April 1964. But Im probably mistaken.
Please educate me as to why a 22" CRT set would be the correct fit for the old cabinet. Is it because the newer crt's were sized larger for its given designation?
Is using a 1" smaller new color crt the guideline that would be used for this type of modification regardless of the original sets size? As an example I also have a 1959 Zenith, model #D2458, using the Super 20 Hi-Fi chassis. The actual viewable diagonal measurement is just under 20". If someone wanted to do the same replacement on this set would a 19" or 20" newer unit be the correct fit? Would using total sq" be a better guideline?
