And check this out, I found an earlier post by the same guy posted 12-21-03: http://www.videokarma.org/showthread.php?t=12671
The 2nd post was 12-31-04, the youtube video 12-30-06. Very strange... and he skipped 05? And the first post of his was under the name "sam-dog-benzo", same as the youtube video, the 2nd under "dog-sam-benzo". Shortly after "dog-sam-benzo" was banned, a "benzo-dog-sam" (who has never posted) registered to AK: http://audiokarma.org/forums/member.php?u=10995 Last edited by Adam; 01-22-2010 at 11:48 PM. |

what a waste of my time replying to all you~ here's the skinny.... someone sent me your thread via ebay... (no, I don't sit here and read and laugh at all your comments as I have a 2 year old, a husband and my own business that I am too busy dealing with)... We are not even members of Video Karma as this is really no interest of ours. We NEVER purchased this television to sell and are only doing so now to offer someone an opportunity at the parts. Personally... I am so tired as I work nearly 60 hours a week and my husband travels all year... I watch a 2 year old and manage my own business. My husband and I collect and appreciate Mid Century design.... in addition we appreciate vintage audio and 'real people'. I have no time trying to explain myself to any of you and really don't care if any of you bid on this. We have been extremely fair and transparent during all of this. When we purchased this TV all we wanted was some advise and insight... and all we got was slack from you wondering why anyone would fishtank this. NO ONE ever offered a penny... We didn't try (nor are we now) to make money off this TV... while we slept in our van the night BEFORE the sale we discussed what we were willing to pay- intact or for the cabinet... this TV was EXPENSIVE for us and obviously more expensive for the rest of you. My apologize if I sound upset or direct however I am just tired of all your bull. I can't believe that you have the time, energy and just plain ol' lack of tact to hassle with us or me. We work EXTREMELY hard and long hours to make a simple honest living. We appreciate fine furniture and Fabulous Audio gear and have a very modest lifestyle... the fact that all of you have the time to even WASTe on 'venting', if you can so call it, regarding a TV that in many places in this world it's just a frickin' TV (like earthquake'd Haiti... it would be gone in a moment). Go ahead and make yourselves feel better making up stories about strangers who purchased a damn TV..."oh, their showing pics of them taking apart"... give me a break... this is called being 'professional' (obviously a word that NONE of you know)... I have ALWAYS posted my listing with more than 25 pics and what is going to stop me from doing it to even a personal posting - nothing. What I can tell you is that more than likely we will have to remove this listing and just throw out the parts ....hope you are all ok with that... on that note I have really no more time to waste on this damn tv... do you not have anything in life that you value more than this TV... maybe you should spend time on that.... I am going to check on our son who doesn't even watch TV.

People have different interests and apparently mid century design is very important to you. You shouldn't be surprised that others are as passionate about their interests.
To take an extreme example. Not everyone appreciates the Mona Lisa. If one of them loved the frame that it was in and threw out the Mona Lisa for the frame, those that appreciate the Mona Lisa would be quite upset and would not view that action as being reasonable. They would look for other explanations. That was further fueled by the way you made the listing. The real cost to you of the cabinet is probably higher than you realize. Had you resold the set as complete you likely would have realized a tidy profit and perhaps have more free time to enjoy your son. John |

Having no interest, room or practical way to obtain a set from Chicago, I'll say this:
Jensen, you speak like a spoiled 12-year-old girl. Life is *so* hard: Two-year-old son. Slept in the van. Sixty hour work week. Traveling husband. Well, many of us would be grateful to solely have your problems. After Hurricane Katrina, I spent 110+ hours a week working a job and working on my house. That went on for a year and a half. I'm 34 and my hair is going gray. If another storm comes and a federal levee failure drowns us I'll lose every bit of vintage electronics I've restored, two automobiles and a few rooms of "mid-century modern" furniture I inherited due to the storm. C'est la vie, I have insurance... I would no more sleep in a van for a TV set than I would for a Corvette. That's misery of your own creation. I would suggest you gear your lifestyle down to fit in your paycheck, stop sleeping in vehicles to buy mcm furniture, and you and your husband spend your time with each other and your son. I think you really need to focus on life's importance and not worry about us old TV collectors. |

Attempting to decipher the above, it appears the poster believes I (along with somebody else perhaps) was asserting that *they* are SamDogBenzo. What I wrote doesn't remotely suggest, infer or even hint at any such thing. Do I believe they are? No--despite the similarity in writing styles--no, I do not.

Jensen your story just does not wash. MANY people here on VK would have gladly OVERPAID to get such a rare and historically significant set.

everyone relax.we are purists here in this forum.if you would have read some posts before you "joined",maybe you would have noticed that.the idea that something so unique was completely destroyed had left us purists in dismay.if you were to reassemble and offer it,then i am sure you will make a nice profit so you can elevate your "modest" lifestyle.because this item is yours, you have the right to do as you wish with it.as for the "professional" photos-who posts photos of someone destroying something once valuable and cherished?maybe some personality issue?then the whining about your life, job, kid, etc.you spent a lot of time defending yourself when it wasnt necessary.it is yours to do with as you will.i am sure someone would have gave you a very nice tidy sum had you been interested in selling and not destroying.besides, there are more out there.yours was not the "only" one in existence.the crt is nothing special.the chassis, etc is somewhat rare but now nonvaluable.this is like the young idiots on youtube smashing the roundies.we as collectors frown upon this.what you have done will not harm anyone other than yourself.we may make a comment or complaint but then we are over it and on to the next find.you only harmed yourself,ms modest, hardluck, cry me a river,i m so a victim,i have to watch my son, hump.next time you destroy something so beautiful, you might want to keep it to yourself.i think you enjoyed what you did.thats why you posted pictures and all.this is a monument to your destructive ignorance.i ll bet you have lots of friends and your marriage is a happy one.this personality trait goes much farther than this television.bad attitude, many vices, someone of questionable moral character and excesses.i dont know you,but i know you.so relax, actually as harsh as i ve been,i am on your side somewhat.no harm intended, frump!
p s -i dont know what "business" you own,but i definitely will not do any business with you.as my long experience in life has taught-anyone who makes it a point to say they are honest, usually isnt.please remove this phrase from your diction.rump! Last edited by sampson159; 01-23-2010 at 09:43 AM. |

Jensen, we all have problems, however it's not are fault that you caused them...
1. You say you run your own business (which seems like you buy & sell), so why didn't you check what the street value of the TV was before you bought it? To me this sounds like an amateur mistake on your part. 2. So.. Didn't you ever think to just give the TV away for FREE instead of destroying it?? 3. I feel more pity on your husband & kid then you, because they have to live with an irresponsible, bitchy, and "I don't have money because I don't know how to handle my funds" woman. I mean you can't even afford to stay in a hotel for one night... ![]() & 4. Don't come to are forum and attack us because we pointed out your own stupidity , if you can't take constructive criticism then you shouldn't be in the business of selling... Period!

Regarding the RCA 2000: Yes it's too bad it had to be parted out, and yes like sampson said we are purists in here. Naturally we care more about the tv than most eBayers would. But, what's done is done I suppose...
Regarding Benzo-Dog-Sam: That youtube video is extremely disturbing to me....just plain strange that some dude would troll AK and VK like that....must be some treehugger!! |

post wine response.... my last one...
what I wanted to say (now that I have calmed down) was I feel this is truly a waste of time 'defending' myself here where we have obviously already been condemned. We had no intentions of upsetting anyone pulling the parts (really... I didn't think people got so 'darn mean' over such stuff). I don't have the time nor do I want to waste more time trying to explain our decision... therefore it is what it is. This TV is literally a plug and go TV so we may or may not hang on to the parts - really is not a big loss for us. Regarding the money - we REALLY wanted the cabinet and if someone REALLY wanted the TV then they should have have nice, honest and a realist (we NEVER purchased this TV with the intent to make money). On that note - best wishes to all of you and Happy New Year. peace. |

dont pity the husband.he doesnt have to put up with anything.i feel bad for the child.got money for the tv and sleeping in a van.i suppose it parked down by the river.does a despicable deed, posts pictures of it in progress and then starting singing 'POOR ME".i can imagine what this person looks like.probably was laughing her ass off when posting these "professional" photos.believe me,i know the type.then to try to justify it by the sympathy bit.get over yourself lady.hope your child doesnt turn out like you.read this, eat another donut, and show everyone how hurt your are.i wouldnt want to stand in your shoes.they take lots of abuse.trembly under all the weight of your fat ass.runs a waitress to death and than stiffs her.always a victim.frump hump

jensen: For someone who has no time in which to defend yourself, you've sure had enough time to sit in here at 12:30 am doing just that and then the next morning wait for responses and continually defend yourself. I know the game you are playing and I'm getting tired of it. Like others have said, if you wanted to sell it, you would have. None of this production was or is necessary. I have started saying several things and have held my tongue. I have kids too and all kinds of problems. None of that is relevant here, we're talking about a tv and most of your post is a whining rant of other problems. It was all I could do not to close this thread last night but I figured it wasn't right as we do have free speech in this country. Everyone: Let's keep name calling and other nonsense to a minimum please. This is a discussion forum about televisions, not your personal life and problems that you caused yourself.
