"The Man from Uncle" on DVD

This show was so cool. The Man from Uncle ran from 1964 - 68.

The good news - all 4 seasons are available on DVD.

The bad news - only available in box set for $250 from the TimeLife website.

The first season (in black and white) is considered the best. In Seasons 2 - 4 they changed producers and they tried to make it compete with Batman by making it funnier and campier.

Robert Vaughn recently said in an interview that the new producers ruined the last two seasons.

So I'm waiting for the First Season on Netflix - probably sometime next year when the DVDs are in wider release.

FYI to The Man from UNCLE fans on AK.

Cheers, Snade

The B&W season is absolutely the best.

Caught it one summer when one of the local stations ran every episode each night over the month.

I was amazed at some of the dialogue & double meanings they got past the censors!

Oh, I didn't known that "The men from U.N.C.L.E." was also filmed in black and white. I was a big fan of the series in the '90's, when they where broadcasted in Romania by "Tele 7ABC" (no a gone television). I recenty saw them again on "T.C.M."

Yeah, the first season was the best. I used to have the Man from Uncle attache case loaded with weapons as a kid. The ultimate in cool, seven years old, sunglasses and no one could guess that the ordinary little attache case I had in my hand, had the pistol that coverts into a scoped rifle.

bwhahahahaha

I had that attache too when I was about 10 years old. Almost used the scoped rifle on some neighbor kids, but I held back. Only use deadly force to protect an innocent life.

Yep, in defending Charlotte Ott the pretty blonde girl next door from the evil Dr. No (her brother Craig). We mixed our spy games back then.

I wonder if the Girl from Uncle will be far behind?

Funny, I had the attache case too.

My present briefcase includes 2-3 flashlights and a couple of multi-tools. I call it (more like pretend it's) my "007 attache."

What? Did everyone have that briefcase. I loved mine. Wish I could find it.

Snade. If you can get it on NetFlix... next Chicagoland AK fest, we can do a 'movie night' for those who have had too much music.

Oh yes, and I WILL have those SET amps fixed....

I had that briefcase too. The show was big even in the Far East, Hong Kong, to be precise. Together with The Avengers, in particular the ones with Diana Rigg, these were the two all time favorites of mine.

BTW, I was also in queue at Netflix for quite some time. It seems that they have updated the availability to Oct 2008.

Man from UNCLE

I still have my official "Man From U.N.C.L.E." LP record, purchased new when released on RCA Victor. Great cover photo, especially for a 11 year old boy.
