Never knew that.
I just read the book and have looked up alot of interviews with him. He basically does not like any of the versions although he says the first came the closest (he did work on the script under a false name). He would have liked Jack Palance to be Neville back then and Harrison Ford now.

This might be common among authors seeing their work turn into films. I asked Richard Price about it at a signing and he does not like any of the films made from his work- although he does a cameo in each!

OT -

I have the book also and it is the benchmark to me for realistic, post-apocalypse novels. It is bleak & real. Another one I need to read is Harry Harrison's "Make Room, Make Room". We know it as Soylent Green.

Agreed. The best is how you get inside Neville's head and his ever-changing reactions to the dystopia the world has become- rage, despair, determination, alcoholism, etc. I liked it so much I ran out and bought the graphic novel. Mrs Lord probably thinks I am crazy.
