Rocky Horror Picture Show Remake?!

I was in the 8th Street Playhouse (NYC) Cast of The Rocky Horror Picture Show for many years. I was on the alumni board today and it was abuzz with antici---------------------pation over this article.
Now there's been buzz about this for years, but this is the closest I've seen to reality on this. What do you think? Good idea? Bad idea? Heresy (and I don't mean Klipsch)?

Meatloaf... again!

Andyman 08-13-2008 03:08 PM

I think it's a classic and should be left alone. Name me one classic remake that betters the original???

My money says it will probably blow....

Movies this classic should never be touched.... Let's Do the Time Warp Again...

D*! Janet!!!!

Dammit Janet I would vote no. I have the album which will make some good listening one of these days.

I am with Andyman.

What's next? A Plan Nine from Outer Space remake?
Glen or Glenda?

Jeepers, all of what makes Rocky Horror great is what it is; who's in it. It is as kitsch-y and campy as can be; very much of its era. A remake woud run the very real risk of taking the task too seriously, maybe even if the creator/writer of the original play, Richard O'Brien ("Riff Raff") were involved in the project.

I'd say if they cap the budget at, say, $2 million, shoot on 16 mm film, and get John Waters involved... maybe. maybe...

Why???

What's wrong with the ORIGINAL??? (other than maybe Meatloaf)

Is there going to be someone better than Tim Curry

Like I said

WHY???

tboat4 08-13-2008 06:19 PM

No! NO! NO!

Remake "The Wizard of Oz", Gone With The Wind, West Side Story? You've got to be kidding. How could anyone possibly expect that a remake would be a good idea? Some movies are best just left as they were originally released. Another example of trying to capitalize on a name. I predict a box office bust.

You don't watch much TV, eh........

Actually, who would go see it? The old timers would boycott it as soulless Hollywood money grubbing, and the idiots who eat up most of the drivel spewed forth these days would probably find it not their cup of Starbucks.

FWIW, the remake of "The Producers" grossed $38M worldwide and cost $45M to make....

Rocky Horror Picture Show

Remake 1 of the greatest movies ever made?!?

It's just a step to the left....

Sandy G 08-13-2008 07:38 PM

NO ! Well, shit, while we're at it let's remake Gone With The Wind, too...or that OTHER 1939 turkey, Wizard of Oz...Lawrence of Arabia-I'm SURE that POS could be topped...A Man For All Seasons-Get me Rewrite ! Does anyone in Hollywood think w/anything other than their wallet or genitals ?!?

djv8ga 08-13-2008 08:03 PM

My wife's favorite movie of all time. I bet she won't like the idea.

Toasted Almond 08-13-2008 08:17 PM

Where you gonna find a slender girl with a rack like young Sarandon's?

"I'm a wild and untamed thing, a bee with a deadly sting...."

The re-make of The Thing from Outer Space was okay, but pales compared to the original. No special-effects is a good thing a lot of times.
