A 1X2B snatched out of what I believe was an old GE set.

Anyone else have a tube as ghastly as mine? Bring it on :p:

Well at least you don't need to bother
to put it on a tube tester.

Jeff, you didn't even give us a chance.

I don't know if that one is toppable, period.

Russman & Sandy G: I have absolutely no idea how this tube got so damn dirty. The chassis and other tubes in the set weren't all that bad anyway. My guess is that when the set was manufactured, the HV assembly was coated with some sort of resin, that now, has aged, and was probably affected by X-rays and heat emitted by the tube itself. I added the rotten wood dust as a decorative accent :puke:

Glen56: I dont think this'll get any use in the future, but it will get a special spot in the work room :p:

That 1x2 looks like it was coated with wax that dripped from the flyback and then heated up due to tube heat. I was working on a RCA 8" 1950's portable, where flyback wax had dripped all over the H.O. and damper tubes...used some Goo Gone to remove it. The tubes worked fine.

Eric, Was that a tube or flashcube?:p:

It must have lit up like a flashcube, glad it happened prior to me getting the set.

I replaced it and the set came on and worked somewhat so it wasn't a shorted cap, or the short went away.

The 1x2B looks like an electric turd. Hey maybe an idea for a band!!:puke:
