Any AK'er TV collectors going to Hot August Nights???
I have noticed that several of us are also into old cars (Polaraman, etc etc), and I am wondering if any besides me are headed for Reno this coming weekend for Hot August Nights? I'll be there with a large group Thurs-Sun. We're at the Peppermill. Might be a chance to get together for a lunch!
And I also usually find neat TVs at the Reno car swapmeet at the Livestock Events Center  Charles

I would love to go!
However, It is not likely I will be able to.
It would be something I would consider to be a lot of fun and it would be an honor to meet anybody from this great group of guys! If I become able to I will definately be there!

I went last year and it was a blast! Got a room late at the Golden Phoenix downtown and it was only $27 a night! And the place was fine. Alas, I think it's been reduced to rubble or is being renovated, and the handwriting was definitely on the wall a year ago. If I had known what this event had to offer, especially at the big swap meet, I would have planned better to haul some car related stuff home.
Gotta say it's probably more fun if you have a classic car to drive around in as it serves as an ice breaker for connecting with other collectors. Won't be going this year but next time I do, it will be in a fun car that can be a part of the nightly cruising scene downtown. I highly recommend this event to anyone into cars, there are all kinds, including crazy tricked out hearses, "jaws" cars etc. Something for everbody whether you're into showroom condition or project cars and anything in between, and they are all over town day & night for the duration.

I know people who have been to this event and have had a good time. As for me, I am entering my 1978 Mustang II in the local Mustang show this weekend. I usually win a prize as these are fairly scarce now and mine is in very good condition. I also have a 1963 Ford Falcon.

Just a heads-up: If anyone wants to go in their old car, it's NO FUN unless you REGISTER! Reason is that you are not allowed to park in any of the hotel show & shine areas, nor drive in the cruise unless you are registered and have the windshield decal. And you must register a year in advance. If you aren't registered, you will be better off to go in a new car and just park it and enjoy the events. Besides the show and parking privileges, your registration ($100 last time I checked) gets you into the swap meet free all 3 days, and the Silver Auction free, and a free dinner at one of the hotels. That's a big savings over the at-the-door prices for those events. They do have strict rules about current license tags, insurance proof, and the car entries cannot be transferred. But those rules keep it all in good order.
