Clyde Crashcup
Does anybody remember Clyde Crashcup? This was a cartoon about a crazy inventor who went around inventing things that had already been invented. He had a sidekick, Leonardo who never spoke, only whispered in Clyde's ear, trying to set him straight. The cartoon was part of "The Alvin Show", Alvin and the Chipmnunks. If anyone has any of these on tape I would love to get a copy. I'd gladly pay for shipping and expenses.

I remember it as well. Along with Benny & Cecil (the seasick sea serpant), Top Cat, Rocky & Bullwinkle and Super Chicken, who had one of the best lines ever. Fred the Lion was piloting the Super Coop (with Super Chicken in tow) when he crashed it while in *thought*. Super Chicken looked over at Fred and said..."How many times do I have to tell you...don't think and drive!"

Cool!, memories. Couldn't find any video available, but there's a streaming video of Clyde Crashcup invents the wife at this site. (bottom of the page)

I always liked, "You KNEW the job was dangerous when you took it, Fred !" I can JUST barely remember Clyde Crashcup...Never got to watch Beany & Cecil, or Rocky & Bullwinkle, 'cause they were on Sunday, & I ALWAYS had to go to Sunday School & church...little bit of trivia...the XB-70 Valkyrie bomber, which was supposed to fly at Mach 3, & replace the B-52, was nicknamed "Cecil the Seasick Sea-Serpent"-its creators, North American Aviation, thought it was unspeakably ugly. There were only 2 of 'em ever made, they were shown to the public in 1964, & in 1966, one crashed, killing everyone on board, during flight testing over the Mojave desert. The other one ended up in Wright-Pat AFB museum in 1969, probably the most advanced-and EXPENSIVE-museum piece ever.

If you remember, the captain on the Beanie & Cecil Show was always drunk. (So much for political correctness). I don't think we had Clyde Crashcup in Canada. But we did have Clutch Cargo. And of course my favorite. "Supercar"
Oh, and Diver Dan.

While we were waiting at the immigration office for the umpteeth time, my lovely wife and I were treated to The Adventures of Cool McCool on DVD! I hadn't seen it since I was 6, My wife said she hadn't seen it in Canada at all, but the kids in back of us were in stitches! I'm glad to see that even the old stuff can stay fresh 40 years later!

Well, I've got the Vol. 1 VHS heading my way! Apparently the winning bidder was a no - pay, so the seller offered it to me for my $16.50 bid. Nice! I will put it on DVD. Then probably re-sell the VHS on E-Bay...

I watched Johnny Quest also. If you watched the Alvin Show (the chipmunks) you saw Clyde Crashcup, you probably just don't remember it. Maybe as a kid you didn't like it.

I believe that The Alvin Show is owned by Paramount TV now. It was syndicated by Viacom, now the parent company of Paramount back in the 1980's. Ran them on the TV station that I worked at...

I always loved "Jonny Quest", but down here, they jerked it around, pre-empting it for phootbawl or nose-picking tournaments.This IS UT country after all... They did another one I liked that way-The Tomfoolery Show. "Tomfoolery" was kinda off-the-wall,you had to think a little bit, but for those of us who "got it", it was very clever.
