CTC-15 working again!

My 15 crapped out back around Christmas... had a nasty hum bar in the picture and everything was out of whack. I took it apart back then, but since most of my time involves working on my cabin in the woods, I never really tore into it good until last night.

When I originally put this set together over a year ago, the only real repair to the chassis was a new flyback. It still had all of the original lytics in it. It played very well with them, but I figured watching it daily would soon wear them out.

Yesterday, I replaced all but two lytics (only because I didn't have two 80's on hand) and now everything is back in shape. I found that a few of the lytics were weak... showing about half of their value on the meter. The main culprit was one of the 160's... it opened completely. I checked the remaining 80's and they still gave full readings on the meter, so hopefully they will hold up till I get some more.

For now, it's working great again and now I can try completing one of my other many un-finished projects around here (and trust me, there's plenty).

That does look good, I've been planning on starting on my ctc-15 after I finish sanding the Hoffman 610 cabinet, but after seeing that I think I'm going to start on it tonight.

Thanks, guys. I've been watching this set all day and it's been pretty steady.

This kinda encourages me to go out in the garage and finish my other 15... a Vislanda. I've already replaced the lytics in it, but it's missing it's video channel. It seems I remember finding a coil inside one of the square cans that was WAY off spec when I put an ohm meter across it. I have a junk 15 chassis I've kept for parts, so I'm sure i'll be robbing Peter to pay Paul.

You couldn't have picked a better screen image to sell us on your set. Bewitched is the reason we got our first color set... in 1968. I like roundies better.

Endora and others

There are certain scenes I like to take screen shots of. Shots of Endora are always good because she's usually got bright colorful clothes on... and her make-up and red hair.

I also used to take a lot of screen shots from the tv show Friends. Monica's apartment in the show features lots of various colors.

TV ads for restaurants are really good. They show close-ups of dinners and salads... usually crisp pictures with lots of color.
