Tv Stand..

What do you guys/girls think about this.

I'm still not sure if I would go about making it. I can't find any tv stands to my liking with the exact measurements. I'm gonna check on something my dad mentioned to me at work first.
This would be going into my room and it simply would gain me experience while I'm at it.
I'd have BA A200's on each side.
It probably wouldnt be that specific stain. Metal frame and wood (oak?) "covers".
Oh and yeah I made that with paint.

Nice work, I'd lose the doors so that you can A) see your components, and B)
improve ventilation.

Yeah but I was thinking of having them so I could hide the ugly components (vcr, ps2, etc)
I wouldn't have to block off the rear either so ventilation wouldn't really be a problem.

Thanks. What are casters exactly? I'm guessing something at the foot of each leg? Of course it wouldn't be bare metal (on the new floor especially) but this is still just an idea. Ohh hehe Just looked it up in google. I don't think I'd put casters since it wouldn't be moving much around. But it's still an idea.
Ideas are welcome.


On another note, I think I should've put this in the DIY section. (I'm kinda new here) If possible could a mod possibly switch it over. Thanks.

Building something like this is not all that difficult but that depends on your skills.The mention of casters for the stand is,in my opinion,a must for any tv stand.You're going to be moving it and getting to the rear of the stand more times than you'd like to think.Without casters,you'll have problems.

Your design concept,with regards to the four posts,looks too flimsy.If the four post and open design is your desire,make sure they are solid wood posts around 2" square.You're going to be transfering a bit of weight from the tv and you need something solid.How are you planning to attach the shelves? Are they fixed or adjustable? You're going to need some way to tie the four post together for structural purposes.If you made the bottom shelf permanent,with a dado cut into the four posts and the top shelf screwed in and countersunk from the top,this would stabilize the stand.Just some thoughts..

Yeah I just think that casters ruin the look. As I said in the first post. It would be a metal frame. I don't want something too heavy but I was thinking of 1/4" steel. That shouldn't be flimsy at all. The shelves would most likely be permanent.. but it would be very easy to make them adjustable so it's something I will probably do.

I don't have a problem with the architectural point of view. It's jus the way it looks that's the harder decision.

Changed the design around a bit..



Still not sure what im gonna do to take the surface rust off.. sandblasting is gonna be pretty damn long with the gun I got. I decided to use fixed casters also. Makes it easier to push n pull.

I finally got some wood.


i don't have the wood for the sides yet.. it's probably gonna be oak since it'll be free.
So far project is at around 130$ total. And yeah.. damn thing is heavy but solid
