Philco tv find
I have posted on here a few times lately. I went by this old shop today and saw several tvs out front. I stopped to check them out. They were all Philcos. There were about 8-10 tvs there. 3 were table or portable the rest were console. Part of them were stripped but some were complete. He said I could have any of them. I took a 19" color table 7 tube hybrid model with remote though the remote is gone. I cant find a model # but it must be early 70s. It seems to work but may have some color problems and it is filty inside. I plan to go back and get a couple of the consoles tommorrow. They are tube also. I really dont have the room for them but oh well. He said he had some chassis I could have too. Are Philcos decent tvs. We never had any when I was growing up mostly RCA.

I don't think Philco's from the hybrid era were the worst but they weren't the best. I had an all-tube Philco from the late sixties that worked great with very good color. Growing up some friends of ours had a nicer 25" Philco-Ford console that was all solid state & seemed to work well, though I didn't think the picture matched, say, an RCA. After about 1975 Ford sold the Philco consumer electronics line to GTE & I think those models are Sylvania clones.
