Recent find - Zenith console, unusual tuning/tube chassis

I just dragged home yet another old television (I really need help... I can't control myself <grin>). This one is a 25" Zenith console. It's a color set, with that green halo problem on the tube. The thing that attracted me to it was the unusal tuner. It has a slidescale UHF tuner, and no VHF knob - instead, there is a push/lever switch labelled "Channel Selector". It appears to have power tuning of some sort - looks like there's a motor on the volume control as well, although the volume knob is frozen in place. This is a nice console, with two 6x9's, and high fidelity sound - complete with bass and treble controls. It's an all tube chassis - at least 20 of 'em in there, on the classic Zenith hand wired chassis. I'll have to take pictures - hopefully I'll have some time tomorrow to work on it/play with it. Still don't know where I'm going to put it though

I flipped through the gallery real quick to see if anyone had a picture of a similar set, but I didn't find one - anyone seen this tuner before? It's new to me, anyway. In the back there's a shaft that sticks out of the cabinet, and inside there is a drum with metal contacts. A label on the back instructs the owner to bend down the contacts for the unused channels. Sounds like a Space Command set, but as of yet, I haven't found a receiver for the remote. (not that I looked real hard, mind you). It also doesn't say Space Command on the set - not that that means anything either. This was one of those spur of the moment accquisitions - I have not had time to go over the set - it's still in the car...

If you search the threads better you will find many photos and alot of info on that type of Zenith. It is worth restoring and everything you need to do that is here. Good Luck! John

Could be a 1966 or 1967 model, I had one in a large dual speaker cabinet. It had the tone controls at the bottom right front, it had no remote just power tuning. Think I scanned the '67 brochure and put it up in the gallery.
