Zenith chromacolor II combo available.

There is a Zenith chromacolor II combo, available, for $10, in Middletown. It looks to be a space command unit. I got an RCA roundie combo from the same house(have not picked it up yet), but I do not believe I will get the Zenith. It is newer than I like , and too big, and the stereo is not "sexy" enough for me(such as were the older tube and early (before '70 or so) SS stereo amps and tuners used by Zenith.) However, hopefully, someone else will be interested, and the people said it works, which means a good CRT, and such.

It is in good shape physically, in a dark cabinet, and is a '78 model ,I think, (the model # was sj-something, I think), with "zoom". SO, if anyone else is interested, let me know, I have a phone # you can call, and the address is 10 Alamo drive, (off of Central ave, down a little from speedway), Middletown Ohio. The people do want it out of the house.

That should be a good quality unit, the Zenith Allegro console stereo units seemed to be about the best of that time frame on consoles...most of the late 70's units I have seen have been mediterranean style (dark wood, no legs, Spanish-style designs), have not personally seen any danish modern or early american styles.

That's interesting, Chad, since in the '50s-'60s Zenith did make a table radio (model K-731) in an Early American cabinet, one version of which had legs. Several of our members, including myself, have at least one of these, and boy, they do look nice when shined up. You have a good point, though, as to Zenith's high-fidelity stereo and stereo/TV combination sets. I've never yet seen a Zenith Allegro stereo in an Early American cabinet either. If they could fit a 7-tube radio chassis into such a cabinet, why not a full-size stereo, with or without TV? Hmmm. Doesn't seem right to me. The Early American cabinet design makes a very fine piece of furniture; why Zenith chose not to use these cabinets with their consoles is way beyond me.

Zenith. Gone, but not forgotten.
