Help Please

Hello,
I have a "new" older set, an RCA G-27201 circa 1991. It is garbage when compared to the classics you gentlemen deal in. I do not possess the skill or knowledge to own or service a classic. I am still using this one as it is the closest thing to what I consider a real television for family use that I have seen in a long time. It actually is in a CABINET I bought it new in 1991 and it has served us well. The picture and color is very nice. Not long ago it developed a condition where vertical lines (part of the image) close to the left and right of the tube curve inwards. This is most evident on boxes, like menus for Directv or graphics during a ball game and even the lines on the field. What is strange is that if the scene is filled with motion, people or anything else that is not intended to be a fixed vertical line, no distortion of any kind is evident. As I have already said, this only occurs on the extreme left and right of the viewing area. The set is viewable. I opened the back a while ago and vacuumed out the crap and attempted to adjust the vertical with the service pots. I could "staighten" things up a little, but the the image was then "skewed" and did not fit the screen properly, so I put things back where they were.
As I have already said, I AM NOT a TV man and I don't pretend to be. I am an auto mechanic by trade. I do own a decent DVOM and can follow instructions. I can solder and possess a basic understanding of electrical circuits. I can hear it now "this idiot knows just enough to screw something up" and that's probably true, but I also know when I should quit. I don't know anyone local that could advise me with knowledge, and where I live it's hard to find anyone that would tell me anything except that it's old, replace it. The set is too large for me to haul around (27") plus, I have a bad back. I am a diagnostic/fuel/electrical/smog type auto mechanic, and would really enjoy the satisfaction of curing this with my hands, and your help, if possible.
I sincerely appreciate the work and passion you guys put in keeping the "vintage" works of art alive. I feel the same way about the LP. I miss B&W. I admire and am a bit envious of what you are able to do.
If someone has the time to make any suggestions, it would be greatly appreciated.

Can't get to the back right now, the small room is still packed with Christmas. Thank you for your response, I will post all information off spec sheet as soon as I can. I also forgot to mention that at times the picture will pulsate with audio and seems to be frequency and SPL related, but this is not consistent. It is nonexistent when the line level audio is used and the set's speakers are switched off. I will get the "make, model and year" information up as quickly as I can.

Sounds like "east-west pincusion correction" is a bit off. Possibly an adjustment similar to those on a computer monitor. There's probably a "secret menu" you call up with the remote control (some specific strange keystroke sequence to get to it). You'll need the service manual to make sense of it though.

I don't think it is an adjustment...sounds like a bad electrolytic causing voltage on a B+ line to fluctuate with the audio. I would check caps with an ESR meter.
Please keep in mind that there are very dangerous voltages inside the TV....if you are not familiar with TV high voltage safety precautions the job may better be left to someone more experienced.

Thank you. I could only visualize or imagine this like a leaky cap in audio. As I stated my specific knowledge is limited, and I don't pretend otherwise. I do not know what ESR stands for. Also, could someone guide me to information regarding the discharge of high voltage circuits. I am disabled with a bad back and have time to study, read, and learn. I will post the chassis # as soon as I am able. Thank you again for your response.
