Rca 625h (ctc-86)
Hello all. First time poster here. I recently got my hands on a 25' RCA GD-625H (CTC-86) Chassis in amazing condition, considering its age. I was told it worked fine, had it delivered to me from Florida to New York. When it got here and I plugged it in and tested it, I got a picture that only took up about a quarter of the screen, vertical hold was garbage, no sound, and no color. Then the screen went dark and I smelled the faint smell of something burning. This TV has sentimental value to me as it is the exact same make and model I grew up with in the 80s so I am invested in getting this back to life. I should also add, when I turn the TV on, I can hear the hum of a crt being turned on. That's it. No other sign of life besides the still illuminated channel number.

Welcome to the VK!
The labels indicate that it's PSU uses SCR. Is important to assure that it and it's vicinity circuts are in good shape, for not making a excessive +B and then damaging flyback and the HOT. With such symption, is good to check if the HOT and the SCR are not shorted. And see if flyback not have some strange issue visually. It also have a "startup" trafo; perhaps the light for the channels indicator comes from this. Is good to locate the schematic, BTW. PS.: great, a delta-gun CRT!

This chassis was built for a short time. It was the last modular
RCA & last delta tube RCA. Saw very few of them. You will need a manual & if you can find a training manual that would be best. It does have an interesting one try kick start. Also IIRC two ground systems, One for power supply / HV and the other for the main chassis / tuners. Good luck Zeno ![]() LFOD ! |

Thats the SAMS for the set. Paper copy much better than a $22 down load ! |

In that 4th picture down you posted, check that 15 watt rectangular fusing resistor just behind the interlock connector. That going out will produce a "hot odor" and cause the set to be dead except for the dial lights and the degausser noise.

Just dropped off the TV to an older gentlemen who runs a vintage electronics repair shop on a beautiful piece of property with a majestic view of Lake Ontario. Fingers crossed.
