Next Up Admiral 19A1!

This little guy has been waiting for decades. I have almost finished replacing the film capacitors. I found only one that was not very leaky... there's a surprise.

More to come...

It has a picture but still needs a lot of work.

Interesting was that when I applied power the first time, I got no raster. I stuck an NE-2 neon bulb next to the HO transformer and it glowed. I thought that the horizontal must be oscillating. But no high voltage. Hmmm, how can that be?

When I had an outside maintenance crew with the phone company, I always told the guys to not overlook the possibility of it being the obvious.

The 1B3 was original and I have never had one fail. Could it be? I have a ton of them because they never go bad. It did. Apparently the horizontal feedback ring ring around the envelope placed too much stress on it and it fractured. A new 1B3 fixed that.

Wow, nice troubleshooting. I've encounted a few bad ones, but not fractured like that.

I'm at the point I don't have enough fingers (maybe toes too) to count how many bad HV rects I've encountered, and typically suspect them fast.
