Quasar vv2008 with black square
My 90 year old aunt has a Quasar VV2008 TV that has a black square that pops up. I found somewhere on the internet that the closed captioned has turned on. She didn't have the remote and I was wondering is there a way to reset this without it. I thought it was broken but now I think its not. Anyone know how to reset this model to factory settings without the remote?

Type in the model number on Ebay and a remote may come up. If you can't get a factory remote, some universal remotes with a menu button will work, but a factory remote is the best way to go. Without the remote, I know of no way to turn off the CC, unless the set has a menu button (and, it does not sound like it does).

Thanks for the reply. I took a TV I had to her just to get her something for now. I have three universal remotes to work on it and none seem to work. Now I noticed a new issue. After it is on a few minutes it will shut itself off. I forgot to mention in the original post she had told me it started after a cold spell that the power was going off and on in our area. I have it unplugged now and I will see if it resets itself over a week or so. Her grand daughter is about my age and I emailed her about it. She is going to ask her son to stop by and check it out as well. He may be more use to it.
