GE Color TV 13" with simple remote looking

I bought a GE color TV in 1983 and I think it was a 13" screen and maybe 15"?, not sure. It had a black color remote with up and down rectangle buttons for volume and to move the channels. It had the speaker looking at the tv on the right side. The TV was a brown cabinet and it lasted until the late 90's. Just looking for a picture of it. This is a partial picture from 1989 Can someone send me info on a complete picture? Just curious about this thanks Last edited by demy1942; 01-20-2020 at 05:16 PM.

Hi Zeno,
It had to be the 13" models. I bought this after my 5" black and white Panasonic was stolen from me while I was working. It still gets me mad after almost 35 years. You mentioned something about these sets having a problem called griplet? Not sure of what this is? I know the last few years of this set I had to Bang the top of the set to get the picture to straighten out. It was a good set while it lasted but heavy as heck. Plus, you had to go right up through the channels to get to your channel. No numbers on the remote, very basic but it was my first remote controlled tv. So, lazy in those days!!!!!! Funny, how we used to get up and change the channel. Thanks for helping

You had the griplet problem.
The PC boards were printed on both sides. To hook the top & bottom etches together the crimped on a rivet & soldered it. With time the connections go bad & you got to hit it. Other than that they were very reliable sets. 73 Zeno  LFOD !

Cool, you know your stuff, I got tired of hammering the top of it and said enough of this nonsense.
Thanks for helpin By the way did you work on tv's for a living, I just buy them never really worked on them.

Yup worked on them from 1970-apx 2010. Dropped out of HS & never
looked back. Retired at 56 & just hang out & help here when I can. If you want to start repairing get a few tube type table radios to start. After a few try some B&W sets. The best ones are the 19" Zeniths in metal cabinets from the early to mid 60's. Good luck Zeno LFOD ! Quote:
