1967 Magnavox U92025
Hi all,
I have a 1967 Magnavox 25" color console. I have the vertical centered, but I need to center the horizontal. Any idea on how I can do that? This set has a great picture otherwise. Thanks, Frank. |

Most of the early U92 chassis sets had no horizontal centering controls. Magnavox did provide on some of them a terminal strip that had a diode and resistor with two blue wires with push on connectors that would move the picture about one inch left or right depending on how you plugged the wires on. This was later replaced with an actual control with two diodes that worked as a normal centering control. I've added this simple circuit to several chassis over the years.

Hi again,
I lost signal coming from the tuner. I have a blank raster. I've already replaced both tubes in the tuner, and still no signal. Could the IF tubes be bad? Thanks, Frank |

Possible.
Wiggle tubes, each one between the detector and point of signal loss should induce noise when wiggled. Have you cleaned the tuner contacts?...if they are dirty that can stop signal. If you have removed the chassis check a the wires are still connected to the tuner.... some sets don't have strain relief on that wiring and flexing it breaks it off its solder points...I have a Silvertone with that issue.

Check the service switch. It has a "raster" position that removes B+ from the IF's and the contacts may need cleaning.

Tested the tubes this afternoon, many bad. Put an order in, and will see how things go. Thanks for the help.
