Zenith 20YIC38 trying to date.

Parents now gone and the house is now up for sale. This was my Grandma’s first color tv. Also my learning ground into color tv. This was in my room as a daily watcher in my early 20’s. I put a rebuilt jug in this late 70’s or early ‘80’s. Been in parents basement unused. Here are some pics. What do you think? Who out there can date this for me? Don’t you just love tube technology? Maybe take this in the house for tournament of roses parade for 1-1-2020 lol .

There will definitely be date codes on capacitors, the colour crystal, and other parts under the chassis.

You can also date it by the chassis number, but I forget what the scheme is. I think 20 is the number of tubes, and Y is the year code. I believe this could be 1968, but someone else should verify this, I'm far from an expert!

My 12B13C52 "B" line chassis was installed in late 1971 so 1968 is about right for a "Y" line set.

That's looks like the 20BC50 chassis I have and currently having a problem with it. Hey on the high voltage cage where the focus knob comes out can you take a clear picture of that decal because there is a knob right above it in I'm wondering what this does because mine is completely shorted out and busted off which is causing my problem. If you noticed I and posting about this TV right below yours.

The Y line is the last big chassis to use a tube type IF circuit and that type of color demod circuit. IIRC, the hi-voltage regulator circuit is different, as well.
That crazy 20BC50 is the only one that the 20 number didn't follow the usual numbering system. That chassis didn't have 20 tubes, maybe 10 or 12 tubes.

15 tubes to be exact. Including the H.V rectifier and tuner tubes.

Set is a model Y4525M "the Cole" from the 1968 model year.
Would have been introed in the fall of 1967. They were out in time
for the world series. I know cause we got one to watch the 67 Red Socks
WS in color.
