Is a Sony KV-1320UB interesting?
One popped up on eBay near me for a not-terrible price yesterday, claimed to be working. Solid-state color isn't really my thing but I figured if it's worth having I'll pick it up. It's particularly interesting because it's (presumably) a PAL set but it has a hue control.
What do you say guys?

Some of the early SS us model Trinitrons acutally had a tube HV rect.
ISTR reading that the PAL trinitrons had some goofy patent dodge trick that made it so PAL could be dumped into a NTSC decoder and that is why there is a hue control.

Its one of there first colors. Actually a 12". The U at the end of the
model usually designates for USA, dont remember UB though. This may be a multy-mode often sold at US PX's & BX's . Not meant to be sold in US but often brought home. Where is the VHF tuner BTW ? I worked for Sony in mid 70's & kinda remember a knob layout like it has but I think it was a monitor. BTW The rarity of this would be if the CRT is good. Its near impossible to find pre 80's Sony colors with a good jug. And when they are gone they are REAL gone....... 73 Zeno  LFOD !

This is the first generation 12 inch CRT Trinitron for the Europe market. It’s rare and produces an excellent image by the U.S. version as the KV 1210U.

The UB model is for the UK. UHF only as VHF channels there were 405 line B&W. These do have the patent dodging convert-PAL-to-NTSC decoder, hence the hue control. I had a CVM-1310E as a kid, but could never fix the weird vertical foldover problem it had - always wanted another one to replace it.

There are 2 versions of the KV1320UB, the early one has the mains transformer and the later one doesn't.
The European version with the VHF tuner is the KV1300E. If you search YouTube for KV1310ES there's a guy from New Zealand who got one working.The 1310 had a handle on the top.S on the end indicates made in Singapore. I've got a 1300E and a 1330UB(slightly later model,same case as the 1320) and both have reasonable CRT's,the hue control on the 1300 swings the colour a lot more than the 1330. What etype2 said. Gen 1 for the European market. If low price I would jump on it. Test CRT if you have ability to do.

Thanks everyone. I'll contact the seller and see if I can get a photo of the CRT on. It's in Italy so not much chance of testing it.

Did in you ever in Spain made picture tubes, valves (electronic tubes)?

You can please open a subject about brands during Franco's Spain.
I never heared or seen any Spanish (Franco or post Franco) brand of electronics. I studied Spanish for 2 years in school (as secondary forgein language... English was from the 2nd grade), but unfortenly I wasn't intrested back then to learn it, through all from a Romanian pont of view Spanish is the most easy to learn from the Latin languages (the other beein Italian). And we still have telenovelas on tv... so. Did the Spanish electronic industry was developed or import was the base? In Romania we never manufactured electronic tubes. The guns for C.R.T. (we made only black and white ones) where imported as far as I know. I know "Sony" had (probably still haves) an assmbly plant in Spain.
