That's about the lowest budget cartoon I've ever seen!

Interestingly enough, I was just reading about this guy that interrupted terrestrial TV broadcasts in the late 80's and referenced this cartoon.

My tablet wouldn't bring this up. Is this the cartoon that had human lips superimposed? That one seemed odd to see. Was it cheaper than making cartoon lips? I guess it would be.

I tried again and it showed. Seemed like the kids mouth is upside down real human superimposed? Similar cartoon or other episodes did have real human lips.

Believe it or not there's a name for it. It's called Synchro-Vox

1970's my foot! Well, it might still have been in reruns then . . . . .

The show premiered in 1959 and was notable for being an early color animated syndicated film production that was affordably priced. The station where I worked received an audition copy in 1960, when no other Atlanta station bought the series. The distributor announced a second season, but I don't think one was ever produced.

Clutch was available both as individual half hour shows with other same style cartoons thrown in for filler, or as individual 400 foot one reelers, for the station to use as they pleased in their local kid's shows. It the station purchased the half hour prints, they were free to continue using them for a number of years and cut them up to fit their local needs.

The Banana Splits were on a Philadelphia's WKBS-48 too, I didn't think it was local then, they showed many of the Hanna-Barbera features. Some of the cartoons on local kids shows got around though, Clutch Cargo may not have been just Chicago. WTTG 5 (DC) showed Lancelot Link - Secret Chimp, yet another primitive animation like Speed Racer and the like.
