Tektronix 5441 Readout
Hello!
Unfortunately my made in USA Tektronix 5441 makes troubles with the readout section. If it is set to 10V per division the readout shows only 1V per division for example. That means it cannot show two digits like 10 because zero is missing. I suspect the Tektronix made DIP ICs on the digital board. This fault also occurs in the horizontal deflection readout. I also want to mention that the oscilloscope had a PSU failure that caused the 5V increase up to 8V. Another voltage was missing completely but I was already able to repair this defect and bring the voltages back to their correct values. Please let me know if anybody has an idea how to find the defect part to bring this nice device back to full operation. Unfortunately I don't have a schematic for the digital boards. Every help is very appreciated. Greetings Josef |

Get a service manual, they are pretty detailed. Also they have nice step-by-step
walk thrus for the digital sections.... Look on ebay, they often have good deals. I got manuals for the units I needed from a seller in Greece, http://stores.ebay.com/qservicetechs...p2047675.l2563 They don't one for your model this moment, the paper ones are pretty expensive..... Good Luck... .

The Tek service manuals are really the way to go here. The readout systems on the 5000 and 7000 series scopes were pretty unique bits of engineering. The biggest problem is dirty switches/plugin connectors sending bad data, not the readout board itself.
If you narrow down your problem to a specific IC, PM me, as I have a bunch of 5000/7000 series parts kicking around. All the readout system chips are Tek custom stuff. |

Hello!
O.k. thank you for your suggestions. I will try to find a service manual and locate the defective IC. I also tried to clean the contacts of the plugins but that didn't help. @N2IXK: Thank you for your offer. I'm going to contact you via PM if I can say which ICs I need. Thank you and greetings Josef |

Hello!
I bought an other cheap mainframe for spare parts and was able to locate the defective IC by swapping. http://w140.com/tekwiki/wiki/155-0017-00 caused the fault. The oscilloscope works good now. Greetings Josef |
