Restored Dumont RA112?

The seller on epay claims he restored his RA112.

That is not restored, just altered, although it may have had a bad CRT, not uncommon with the 19" tubes.
It looks like the chassis may still be there so possibly it could be reversed.

I had a completely empty Admiral Bakelite that I put a Color chassis into, it was by no means "restorable" in the normal sense so no big deal IMO, however it wasn't modified in any way so it's no worse off than it was to start with.

There are probably more of these large screen Dumonts out there than there are CRTS to keep them all running so at least it's better than scrapping it.

If that is the case, I wonder if the seller can tell us what happened to the original CRT?

Like it or not, you are looking at the future for a great many vintage TVs - assuming the owner even cares about whether it can play or not.

Beats being turned into an aquarium.
