Anybody else got a JVC
TM-P3 2.5" color monitor ? I have 2, one is a stand-alone unit w/power supply, the other came to me in a Leader cradle, & had the power connections altered... Would like to find a 13.8 VDC power supply...I know, fat chance. I might also be persuaded to part w/the Leader/cradle using one, if anyone wants it. These l'il guys ARE Tres Cute...

Hi Sandy,
I have a bunch of these little color TV + Video waveform combos. Some standalone and 2 x matched sets, one in NTSC, one in PAL. They work fine off 12VDC providing the Amperage is OK, around 2.2 Amps for both running from the same PSU. 13.8V is given i think because it's the nominal voltage in a car (cigarette lighter plug) with the engine running. This voltage is also given for a lot of Ham equipment running Mobile as it shows the max rating for the RF Amp on transmitting in Mobile. If you want to respect the "by the book" rating, either look at DC PSU's of the 70W switching type which often have Volt-by-Volt programming with a small resistor plugged-in with 2 pins in a tiny plastic case or look at fixed Lab PSU's supplying 13.8V to run Ham gear at home. So i did, and i maintain my advice: for us composite folks, getting a cheap ex-Broadcast picture + WFM monitor often very cheap what can be a better deal ? These were probably used in the thousand range by ex-News TV crews in the field and will never be seen again once the market has depleted. Maintenance: The JVC TM-P3 is no problem. The Leader Scope is. I've queried LEADER Japan, been to US & Euro Broadcast Trade Shows on the LEADER booth, inquired on NG's finding a schematic/service manuaL. lnquiries for the Leader Scope have resultedl in zero result. LBO-5864 is unknown. BTW, i've got one, good electronics, but CRT barely visible - used to the bone) - can't find a replacement. Best Regards jhalphen Paris/france

No, JVC never made a TM-P3 with a built-in tuner, neither for the NTSC market, nor for PAL. It's original intent was to be a luxury consumer field monitor in the days of the standalone camera + umbilical cord to a VHS shoulder carried recorder. Cost a fortune when new, sort of US $700.00 Seems LEADER seized the opportunity to incorporate a ready made consumer product for a pro application and sold thousands of them. If you query JVC TM-P3 by itself, the prices are often quite more expensive standalone than packaged with the cute LEADER scope, go figure! http://search.ebay.com/search/search...trypage=search You can make a "use anywhere" TV with an ATSC tuner or a Blonder-Tongue modulator re-broadcasting the NTSC A/V out of an ATSC tuner, then using a compact NTSC tuner such as the IT'S TB-100 to feed the JVC around the house.
