One of my customers ran a TV/appliance store in my hometown for about 50 years. He said the first TV he sold was a Majestic, I think it was in 52/53. It came to town via train and was delivered by Railway Express. It happened one day that him and I were talking and another customer came in and mentioned that he had bought that first TV. I guess I should ask and make sure he doesn't still have it!

I just got done installing a new CRT in my 1951 Wilcox-Gay, aka Majestic.
It's identical to the Majestic version right down to the model number. This set was basically Dumpster ready when I got it, Mouse Pee all over the chassis (and a Mouse Skeleton) the molded wood cabinet had delaminated everywhere and had to be reglued. The Speaker cone is more Coffee Filter than paper but it works fine. If it hadn't had such a cool looking cabinet I wouldn't have messed with it at all. |
