First HD set, American?

Just wodering when was first HD set made? was it American made? make and model # please.

please post pics, any info would help

I'd say actually it was England, and in the 1930s. They had 1100+ lines very early in their TV technology. The first HD sets here in the USA, would be the early RCA 480 line HD sets in the mid-1990s. Those were the ones with the 16:9 aspect wide tube, and not flat. Weird animals! (and dreadful to work on)

If you mean a set that had an ATSC HDTV receiver built in, that can't be before 1996, the year that the ATSC standard was set in place. By then I think all the American TV makers were all dead. Oh, the trade names may have still existed, but not as real American manufacturers. Like RCA, they died in the late 80's.
