Finally I managed to put my hands on a color tube set





I drove about 500 miles to buy this TV, the seller told me "the set is in working condition"... Yeah, working condition...





I replaced the double selenium diode in horizontal oscillator with two 2N4148, but no EAT. The cause was a broken resistor connected to the G2 of the PL509 (horizontal output). Now the set turns on, but no chroma.



I changed the quartz and several capacitors, but to finish the work I need to install three new PCL200 (color output)

That is a nice set!

It must be very special to you having a tube color set considering how rare they are in Europe, due to how late most european nations were to adopt color TV.

Tube color TVs can sometimes be hard to find even here in the US because most areas that were not near a major city did not have color stations for several years, and poorer more rural areas sometimes did not even have stations near enough to recieve with out a big powerful antenna.

I'd love to see the photos you posted, but they are appearing as red "X"s on my computer screen.

You're right Tom, Italy color broadcasting officially began only in 1977 and the old color sets were purchased in northern Italy to receive the transmissions of the Swiss television. For this reason the tube color sets are extremely rare.

Great raster on your Blaupunkt. Good save and repair.
When i was a kid my aunt had a 1980's Toyota Camry with a Blaupunkt aftermarket radio/cassette deck. I asked her what this brand was because at that time, I never heard of it. she went on to say how good it was. And it must have been better than the stock radio.

I have family in Italy and I asked if they had color television in the 60's when most of them came to USA and they said 'not a one'.

Blaupunkt is a great brand, I also have a 1961 Sevilla 110 (b / w set) with magic eye and is built very well. After the color tube sets have come the thyristor chassis FM100, quite reliable, and in the early eighties the FM 100-20, with some flyback failure... After this they had a Grundig chassis (the CUC series) with great performances.

Blaupunkt car radios are renowned for their excellent performance, I had some year ago a Blaupunkt Monaco



In late sixties the color sets were distributed exclusively in northern Italy, some Multistandard set were widespread in Liguria, Piemonte and Val d'Aosta to receive SECAM broadcasts from France. Typically it was Philips sets with KM1 chassis. The firsts color sets sold in Italy were very expensive. At the end of the sixties were needed to purchase one set about 500000 lire, pratically the price of a car...

blaupunkt radios are pretty decent, but they dont hold up to harsh conditions over time, (but what electronics do?). so ive had to recap a couple, and replace an output IC on one. But other than that, they perform well.

Fron where did you bought the tv set?
When they 1st introduced color television in Switzerland (Svizzera)?

I bought this set from a person I met at a flea market.
The color broadcasting in Switzerland began in 1967 I think

I like The Blaupunkt too. I worked on a big 1950's entertainment system once. I loved the way it was built.

Yes, to receive SECAM signals multistandard sets were widespread in the '70s

Probably I have fixed it, the image became dark after a few minutes, I replaced the damper PY500 and the horizontal output PL509
