RCA VICTOR 9PC41 Projection Set on the bay...
#250889243268 current price is $9.99 with over two days left to go.
This is a very nice looking cabinet and looks fairly clean in the back too. It is about 25 miles West of Altoona, Pa. 7 pictures. The seller says it is missing two 5U4s. It is also missing the top of the HV cage and the back as well. I have no connection with this auction but I do hope someone grabs it and saves it. Cliff |

but I do hope someone grabs it and saves it. /QUOTE] Well, Cliff, your hopes came true. I low-balled a snipe and got it and will be going up Sunday to pick it up! ![]() I've wanted one of these babies since the mid-1950's when I first saw one. I know that many of the early RCA sets were safer to transport with their CRT's removed. Does that same warning apply to this set? If so, does anyone know where there is a picture tube install / removal download? I've read the one in Sams, but would kinda like to see some pictures. James. Unless you plan to UPS this beast, removing the tube is not needed. It is small and locked tightly in the projection cylinder. Tube alignment in the cylinder is critical and best left alone until after restoration. Then you go down that endless road.
The big problem with this set is the condition of the mirror at the bottom of the cylinder. The chassis is superb with 5 IF's as I remember. That gives a great pix with loads of chroma crawl.

Good luck James!
I have a 9PC41 too. Some day I will restore it. I certainly have all the tubes, etc. What a wild set! dave 63 |
