G'day all, there's a 1976 Zenith Bicentennial B&W portable TV on Ebay for anyone who is interested:

Interesting, the cabinet is a close duplicate of the "Avanti" 25" color set (or rather, I always thought of the Avanti as an oversized plastic portable).

Those little sets were brought to me to fix for a good long time. I saw one about 4 years ago that had an intermittent connection that made the vertical collapse. It's still running, but has a burn on the screen from the collapsed line. It's still a kitchen set.

I was in college (Syracuse University, Syracuse NY USA) back in 1976, our Bicentennial. There was an absolute Bicentennial marketing craze at the time, anything and everything had a tie in with the Bicentennial. Bicentennial TVs, toothpaste, calculators, you name it, they marketed it with the Bicentennial tie in. Little of it made sense, as there were no TV sets or calculators back in 1776.
