Trying to find a CRT that will serve as a spare for my color sets.

I have four rectangular delta gun color sets that I would like to get one or more spare CRTs for.

The first three have the same screen size, and should be cross compatible.
25AP22
25GP22A
23VAXP22
Are these cross compatible, and what other tubes are compatible with these?

the last one is a 22JP22.
Are any of the above compatible with this?

Is there any one tube that can be used for all if so needed?

Thanks.

Tom C.

our experience back in the shop days was that they all were interchangeable.electronically they will all show a picture.there may be some purity or convergence issues but generally all will work.we were crt replacement experts back then, which means we did many of them.dave has a list of crt numbers and the results when put in a certain set.he took notes on every job.

i have noted good results swapping all 25a/23v delta gun tubes.some are fussier than others to set up.a lot of delta gun tubes swap with no problem except for the low voltage focus type.
watch for the 20vagp22.that is the modern black matrix type to sub the 22jp22.i put one in a metal case ctc38 recently for a regular.

There was an odd-ball model RCA that had a CTC50 chassis. That one was simular to a CTC38/39, but had a low focus voltage CRT. I thought it might have been a 20" crt.

Thanks for the informitive posts so far; I feel that I've learned some important things.

The set that uses that 22JP22 is a Zenith(in case anyone was curious).

Could some one please give me the numbers of any 25a/23v black matrix types that should be compatible with mine?

I Intend to but at least one of the color tubes Bob is selling as spares for my sets(maybe two because one of my tubes is very weak) and I would prefer a black matrix type if he has one. The types he has are listed on his for sale page which can be found here http://antiquetvguy.com/Frameset%20P...FrameSet1.html .

I am getting one of the 22jps for a Sylvania console I have. The 22 series tubes always seem to be weak, not sure why.
The 23/25 crts seem to last forever.

Whats sets do you have that use these? I thought all you had was round stuff?

Here are two of my rectangular sets.

The Zenith(top left) uses the 23V, and the Airline(bottom left) uses the 25GP

The sets below I reciently bought from Nick.

The larger console is my Admiral(from another thread), and uses a 25AP22 according to it's tube chart; I cant see the label through the shield(it blocks my X-ray vision ).
The smaller is a Zentih, and has an RCA 22JP22, but it originally had a 22QP22 according to the tube chart. see photo below.

Very cool. I have a zenith that has those louvered things and I think its ugly. Its a TV, not and air condition vent or storm shutters.
