1990's magnavox HD2632 knocked over

My daughter dropped our 20 year old 32" magnavox on its face hooking up the Wii the other day. Since then, major landing or convergence problems in the four corners. Green in one corn, purple in another, can't remember the other two. I was wondering if the tube is probably shot or whether there was something I could tweak. It's a Magnavox m/n HD2632 W101 with a Philips MO3X tube in it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Still looks pretty good except for the color problems.

Sounds like either the yoke slipped or the shadow mask got knocked out of position.

My RCA CTC185 table set fell off its stand last year, and I found the same color problems (splotches, like purity issues) when I fired it up again. I was able to get rid of the color splotches by running a magnet from an old loudspeaker around the screen, with the set off. The color distortions disappeared and the picture has been excellent ever since.

I agree with Andy that the CRT in your set may have been damaged when the TV hit the floor, but I'd try his suggestion to check the yoke positioning first. I will say, however, that it was fortunate the CRT did not implode or the set did not suffer further, more serious damage.

I would at least try manually degaussing it. Assuming you don't have a degaussing coil, do you have a soldering gun? (not an iron) A tape demagnetizer can also work. Turn it on, pass it near the screen in slow circles then gradually back away from it as far as you can, then turn it off. Do it while the set is on so you can see the results.

I have a big sony that fell like that.Disable the degauser and take small magnets around the rear of the tube until the beam landings improve.Just leave them in place when the picture cleans up.

Yes magnets are good for resetting colour,i remember using one years ago to correct a colour issue in one corner... (It corrected after a few swipes)

When she knocked it over I looked at the yoke. Didn't appear to have moved. All the dust was still in place. Tried the speaker magnet and got hold of a degausser too. Nothing worked. I had noise on the screen which was a good way to view the distortion. Nothing altered it permanently. Didn't try the small magnets on the rear of the tube. Broke down and bought a Toshiba LED. Thanks again for all your help. It was a good 20 years.
