Samsung Parts?

I have a 27" Samsung Digital tube type TV (Easy Fit HD I think they called it...)

It has a bad power supply board. Where can I find a new one?

Samsungs actually have identifiable parts in them ? I thought they were all just "Black Majick" or Pixie Dust...

Take the number off the board and type it into an internet search-usually works for me.

Boards don't generally go bad. Components on them do. So troubleshoot it and repair it.

That would probably be the best action to take. The only time I replace boards is when the original board was severely damaged by lightning, has received severe physical damage, or uses extensive surface mounted components that would make the board impractical to repair with regular soldering equipment.

It's very likely that your board will only need a few low cost components; which, will be MUCH cheaper than a new board, if you can even get the board. When I first started repairing TV's, I'd often replace the whole board. Then, I discovered that I could often fix the old board with $2 worth of new parts. That sure beats $50-$100+ for a new board.

If you still feel like you need a new board; these folks, http://www.pts-electronics.com/home-page/, may have the board or can rebuild your old one.

This is the first set in a LONG time I have thought to be worth fixing....This is why I was pondering replacing the board.

usually it's the electrolytic caps that go bad. Hopefully no hard to identify or unobtanium semiconductors have gone bad.

If that set has the same separate power supply board that the larger Samsings had there was a high value resistor in the feedback circuit that changed value and caused excessive B+ and the X ray shut down activates when the set is turned on.

I have been through every board on this TV and cannot find anything wrong....I have re-soldered several joints (Did not look real bad, just wanted to touch em up)

No visibly bad components, signs of overheating or anything of the like...

When plugged in , the power light flashes six times and does not power up. According to Samsung website, this means it needs a new power supply. (Consumer website so no technical help.)

Can anybody help me diagnose this? Refer me to any websites with diagnostic help etc?

Any help much appreciated!!!

Thats the same thing if you crank over your car and it dont start, you need a new engine.

You have to do more extensive troubleshooting.

I have a Samsung U900 (Soul) in black that has an absolutely wrecked battery cover.
Does anyone know where I would be able to find one?

I am revisiting this old thread and TV again...

I have gone over the power supply board with a fine tooth comb and cannot find anything that looks wrong. All solder joints look good, no components look burnt etc.

I would like to seek assistance in diagnosing this problem please.

TV does not power on, the red light flashes six times is all.

eBay has a zillion Samsung Power Supplies, most of them are for Flat Screens though.
It might be helpful if you could post the model number of your set and maybe a picture of the PS.
