RCA 8ts30 / Bendix 2000u

I won these last Friday on an online auction. Drove down to the place and picked them up today. Both are in great shape. I finally have a channel 1 set!! The Bendix has a Muntz look to the chassis, not a lot of parts, but I suspected that when I bid on it. I lost an Admiral bakelite console and a Motorola wood 7" at the end of the auction. There were 9 sets total. Paid $78.00 for the RCA and $35.13 for the Bendix so I think I did OK. Only about a 45 mile drive to get them. Checked out the Bendix first, put it on the variac and yes it works.

Some TV modulators can be modified by removing the channel 3 and 4 crystal module and replacing it with a 45.25 MHz crystal. You may need to pad the crystal caps a little (add a few more picofarads) to get it to oscillate.

Thus you could watch something on channel 1! And use a splitter backwards to also feed the TV a set top box converter or such on channel 3 or 4. Like a mini cable front end.

I need to get right on that!

I'm pretty happy about the RCA. It's a nice one and the price was right. It has a bright raster and sound so we are good there.
