Hallicrafters for $500 in Chicago
Doesn't say which model, but aren't most H/C sets pretty rare?

Hallicrafters from the late 40s certainly are rare and go for good $$. Not so much for a mid 50s HC I think.

The 7-inch Hallicrafters sets with pushbuttons (T-54 aka 505) are fairly common. Somehow, I ended up with one of each cabinet style (metal, wood, luggable leatherette). I have a 10-inch T-67 from 1948 that performs better, although it shares the cheap pushbutton tuner.
The Dachis book lists dozens of boring post-1950 models. Hallicrafters killed their TV line around 1956, probably because nobody bought them. If you want a TV made by a boatanchor company, hold out for a National. Better built than the Hallicrafters 7-inchers and much scarcer. Just my $0.02. Phil Nelson

What Phil said. The only thing about the Hallicrafters sets is that they offered a 7"er that had its cabinet designed by Raymond Loewy, the same guy who designed the "Coming or going" postwar Studebaker. He was kinda "hot" & well-known back then.

Those 21" Hallis from the mid-50s were darn good performers...we lived in a "deep fringe" area & they had a hot front end. My Uncle kept us supplied...he'd rehab them, charge my Dad for parts & we'd be set. We probably had 3 of 'em...my Mom call them "beer joint TVs" since the ones we had were big ol' table models that you'd see high up in the corner of a bar.

Sorry Sandy, but Loewy sorta designed the '47-'52 Studes, actually he was double crossed by Roy Cole a head engineer at Studebaker (he was given incorrect dimensions) after the original design team broke up in '43. It was designed by Virgil Exner, who was part of the original Loewy team. Loewy was given credit by Studebaker for the design however. I can only guess, this was done because Virgil Exner was relatively unknown in the late 40's, while Loewy had a well established reputation that lingers to this day.
