RCA Victor TV/Radio/Phono Model 6T86

I'm helping a friend clean out a house. We have an RCA 6T86 that definitely needs work. I don't want to trash it though because I think it's way cool and think we can make a few bucks, too. Does anybody know who I might contact about this set? I'm in central Connecticut, if that helps.

That one is from around '49-'50. It's no older than '49, since it has a 45 rpm record changer. In '50-'51, they went to a plastic tonearm on the 45 rpm changers.

The biggest thing that's going to hurt when trying to sell this is it's physical size. It's too big to economically ship and your biggest hope is to find someone local who is interested. As far as price, it could bring from $5-on up. It will depend on the condition of the cabinet, the completeness of the chassis, and the condition of the CRT (picture tube). If everything checks out and you find a collector who is close enough, you could probably get between $50-$75 for it. If there are serious issues, the value will be much less.

One word of caution I'll give you is DO NOT plug in this TV! There are internal components that fail from simply sitting unused for decades and if you power it up now, you could very well burn up an expensive and NLA part, such as a transformer. Best to let an interested TV collector check it out and then go from there.

RTNut, thanks for the replies to both of my posts. I see there's not much of value in either case. I really like the RCA unit, but not enough to keep it and work on it. Anyway, glad I didn't plug it in!
