RCA/GE CTC177A horizontal centering
I've got a 25" GE CTC177A chassis. The pic here shows that apparently my picture is too far to the left:
http://videokarma.org/attachment.php...8&d=1292046032 I looked at all the service adjustments and I don't see anything to shift the picture horizontally, only vertically. Horiz free run frequency Horiz phase Width (27/31"only) PIN Amp (27/31"only) Vert center Vert height Red bias Green bias Blue bias Red drive Green drive Blue drive Will any of the first four adjustments shift my picture to the center? Tom

The first two adjustments may have some effect. If not, set them back like you found them.
There is a blue rectangular cap in the horizontal circuit that will swell up and there will also be a diode next to it that will be bad (may check good; but, will not work in the circuit). These parts can cause width/pincushion problems. Also, check the power supply voltages and all electrolytic caps in the power supply. |

the first one will move your picture horizontally.be careful.dont go too far.the set will go into shutdown mode and you will never get it back on.i had the same chassis with a 32 inch crt.that was a good set.it happen to me and i had to power it up on a variac at low voltage to correct this.never again will i go to fast and to far with these adjustments.

The horizontal frequency is normally set at 12 or 13. If you go much further away from these settings, the TV will shut down. I've seen cases where the eeprom would become corrupted, usually due to bad tuner connections, and throw the horizontal frequency off.

Thanks, guys.
The range of the first adjustment is 00-31, and its present value is 12. The range of the second adjustment is 00-15, and its present value is 8. I did notice the warning that was printed on the sticker I found inside the TV that said if alignment #1 goes too low, an EEPROM has to be replaced. When I'm feeling better, I'll take a shot at adjusting the second value, one number at a time. Very much appreciated.
