This 1988 RCA XL-100 is portrayed as being "antique," but that's obviously not the case:

Here's a 1988 Sony Trinitron, of course it's labeled "vintage" by the owner. Apparently there's a switch on the front of the TV to turn the cable on and off:

This guy is completely out of this mind if he thinks that he's going to sell this for $2,500. It's a console cabinet with three small TV's in-a-row. He says circa 1960's, but they are solid state so I think more on the lines of 1972-1974 (I still can't believe the price):

I think the unknown console is a Heathkit. Mid '70's sounds about right.

Yeah, it is a Heathkit, DUH! That's what I get for not reading. Anyway, during the '60's, '70's, and part of the '80's, the Heath company produced many electronic kits, including TV sets. The company was eventually bought by Zenith in the '80's and the later Heathkit TV's used Zenith modules.

I don't mind people calling items from the 1980's "vintage." However, that usually tends to have a negative connotation in this throw-away world and people are more willing to get rid of them.

With all due respect to anyone, I almost kind of wish new TV's weren't so cheap. It would give people an incentive to get their current TV's fixed and not dump them in the landfills when they have easy-to-repair problems.

I just found out today that my grandmother's 1979 RCA worked. The sound is great. It probably just needs a few electrolytic capacitors replaced, since the colors are messed up and the picture is a little blurry (it hasn't really received good reception in years). She wanted to throw it off her second-story window after the digital transition lol. But I told here that we would get it working well again one of these days.

On the Heathkit:

I bought that same set, from the looks of it, from a guy that went into the NRI school and gave up after fouling up a basic radio. I built it in my living room floor in an apartment complex. When it was finished, it had an awfully nice picture. I ran my old U-Matic VCR's on it for 10 years or so, until the CRT started smearing.
