Andy,

Glad you got one. I had the same disease for years and I'm on CT-101 #2. I managed to drop the first one and demolish it. If anyone needs some internal boards, knobs or CRT assembly, I have stock. Now where did I put them?

#2 is very happy. The picture always reminded me of a 1" Porta Color.

I always suspected they made it because it was the logical marketing extension of the numerous Travelvision B&W versions they had. Gotta go color sometime and let the camcorder viewfinder division pay for the design.

There is probably a thread on unique, niche, why-did-they-make-it products waiting to happen. Like the GE 4" color/boombox that keeps popping up recently.

I re-celled my first one with some kind of military looking Japanese AA's I found at a hamfest. They are high amps and heavy. It will run for just short of four hours on them. Be careful of the little charging tab on the battery sleeve. You can bend it right out of usefullness.

I think it might have been corporate one-upsmanship-Matsushita Vs. Sony. The smallest Trinitron was the 3.75" KV-4000, Matsushita got bragging rights w/these over Sony.

Congratulations Andy!

It's a great set. They were in competition with Sony and others at the time for the honor of making the smallest sets.

One of my favorite sets. :-)

Hi Guys, Andy,

Congratulations! ...and on buying the first ever working, unscarred under US $100.00 CT-101. Thank God for the demise of analogue NTSC to bring these down from US $400.00-700.00 to an affordable price.

Apparently you still have some analogue UHF broadcasting in your town, lucky you for demos.

As a have your Mail, i will be sending you the complete Hi-Res Scan of the service manual today. Anyone else want it, just send me a PM & Mail.

You probably know that the plastic case is extremely brittle and will shatter like glass if it falls or gets hit by something, so protect it well (kids, cats, cleaning person....don't ask).

Best Regards

PS: thoroughly interested question: one of mine goes out of focus after 15-20min, focus pot tweak or someting else...

Yeah, I ordered mine thru the local hardware store, & boy hidee, did I get the "Fish-Eyes"..."Fer THAT kinda monee, I coulda gotchu a 21" teevee-why you want THAT little-bitty thing fer ?!?" And the case IS crap-Why did they go cheap 'n' nasty on their flagship product is a mystery to me.... Its a PORTABLE TV-its gonna get banged around a bit, geniuses...Spend the extra 15 cents & give it a decent case...Better yet, spend a whole fiddy cents & give it a METAL case...Anyhow, glad you got one.
