Anybody know great songs that may be somewhat forgotten?
I accidently found a song that I think is great in every way. It's Johnny Tillotson's Talk Back Trembling Lips. I can appreciate music from all time periods and categories but I am surprised at the great things I stumble upon on youtube. I love to see the original videos. The video of Johnny singing this song is very cute to me with a most basic but classy set, camera shots and the swithing the director is doing from camera to camera.

i rememeber that one and the country version by ernie ashworth.the 60s had the best music by far!very diverse and everything was happening.

i still like novelty records."down came the rain",anything by mrs miller,etc.british invasion,doo wop,stax,some motown,flower power,early garage.the sonics,seeds,leaves,13th floor elevators.have a bodyman friend who was in the sunny and the sunglows.they had "talk to me"in the early 60s.

I love that early garage too. Check out the Nuggets series of records if you haven't already

If I never hear American Pie, PianoMan or Brown Eyed Girl again it'll be too soon. Six stations in the southeast Wisconsin area are owned by Clear Channel and they all seem to use the same play list. There has been so many hit records made in the last 75 years that they dont have to play the same rubbish over and over.

It's funny that you mention Johnny Tillotson because my mom was a big fan of his and actually met him and talked to him several times back when she was a teenager. I can remember laying in bed at night and hearing my mom playing one of his records in the living room, which is a record that I've since taken up with ever since I got into vinyl. One I discovered recently while recording some 78's is Frankie Laine and Jimmy Boyd's duet of "The Little Boy and the Old Man".

I watched the youtube of Melinda Marx and I liked it. It is funny how almost every big star's kid in the '60's got to be a pop artist as long as they cared to do it. Art Carney's son had a band shown on I've Got A Secret. Such performances make me certain anybody with time and money can put on a good show. I found a great performance by Marthe Fleurant performing Pense a Notre Amour and I think it is great. The video to it gets pulled every time somebody posts it. They let the audio from a record of the song stay but the video gets pulled. The video just shows Marthe alone performing the song. Does anybody know why it gets pulled off and who would order such? Thanks Sandy! I have been trying to find that song for years. I could remember hearing a bit of it a time or two and used to think it was just a goofy old folks song but I now recognize it is a great one. Part of it was in my head and when I tried to sing that part I suspect friends just thought I was making it up to try to be funny.
I am so glad I finally realized how incredible people and entertainment from the past actually are. The story of the married couple that sing this is touching. They moved to Hawaii in 1980 and opened a dinner theatre. I hope my life ends up that beautiful.
