Would like some help on building a tube circuit.
I have two projects in mind I would like to build, I will just start with the first one. I would like to make a Music/voice wave form visualizer (horizontal) with a small electrostatic screen (between 2 and 4 inches with a neck that is not too long). I would like to keep the parts as minimal as possible and try to use only circa 1950's or earlier technology. I know how to do this with a monitor with a yoke but never have worked with electrostatic crt's before. I assume that I would need some sort of isolation transformer on the audio input to combine the left and right channels into one. Basically this would be the same as a stripped down oscilloscope. the basic idea done on a tv set can be seen here.

I figured out a basic design I could use to build mine from. The National CRM oscilloscope runs on just one fullwave rectifier tube (6X5) powering a 913 crt info including schematic can be found Here. I hope to adapt this to fit a slightly larger tube I am thinking a 3 inch tube. I also have a Stancor PS-8415 power transformer laying around I would like to use:
primary 117vac 60cycle secondaries 125 volts @ 15ma, d.c. 6.3 volts @ 0.6 amps |

Interesting. I wonder what the vert/hor sensitivity is like since there aren't any amplifiers? I do recall that CRT deflection plates can be quite sensitive if the accelerator anodes are run at lower than usual voltage. The downside is that the trace won't be as bright.
