this is a sylvania e-41 or e-45 with electronic tuning!on my wish list!again, way too far to get.set might need a tripler or horizontal output transister.very common.also the oval shaped can capacitor.they had a high failure rate, especially in hot weather.great set if the crt is good.again, that one has a black matrix tube.great find!

NTE still list triplers in their cross reference guide; but, I don't know if any are currently being made. My local parts house has a few NOS ones; but, I don't think they're making any effort to restock them. Heck, I think I'm the only one that has bought a tripler from them in years. Also, I can't imagine there being much demand for triplers for '70's TV's, outside of the TV collecting community, as most people won't have a 10 year old TV fixed, let alone a 30+ year old set.
Years ago, I had a '79 Philco console that looked almost like that set. It was nothing more than a rebadged Sylvania as GTE owned both the Sylvania and Philco names at the time. My set had a 25V delta gun CRT and a single board chassis that was mounted on a metal frame. I can't remember; but, it seems like the chassis number was something like an E21 or E23 or something like that. I remember similar 19" and 21" models with an inline tube and the 25" consoles used a delta gun tube. |

that philco was an e-21 chassis.same as in the 19 inch portables.it should have had a delta gun crt.the triplers are eeg 523.the e-48 superset took a eeg 556 tripler.you can raplace a 523 with the 556.but not a 556 with a 523.the philcos of that vintage were few and far in between.can only think of a handful in 25 years.i owned one once.pretty good set with a zenith crt.nice swap.fine picture.i sold it to a neighbor.he was very pleased.havent seen him in 15 or so years.doubt that it is still going though
