Raytheon 10DX24 reduced to a good price!
It pains me greatly to have to pass on this at that price but C&F want's $500 to ship it cross country so....
Someone within driving distance of Boston might want to grab this. http://cgi.ebay.com/1948-BELMONT-RAY...item4aa0ad0143 |

Nice set, but where in the heck would someone find a knob for it?
Is there one out there that can be copied? |

The knob should be the same as this 7" Belmont/Raytheon.
Hard to find, probably but not impossible.

I needed that channel knob for a Raytheon 7 inch suitcase style television and spotted one in a 100 knob ebay sale last year. I sent the seller a clear jpeg of the knob for verification. Since he had zero bids he modified his ebay description and sent me the knob for $10. Eric's set actually came with two different channel knobs. The Kit version had a different channel knob then the retail version. So I originally thought of moving the knob from from Raytheon tabletop to my Raytheon suitcase since the other channel knob is more generic. I need to remember where I put that channel knob as you can see it is not on the TV yet.
I have been looking for that 10 inch Raytheon for years. Unfortunatel it is too far away. I have driven to Plymouth Mass to pick up a TV but cann't do that right now. |

These sets apparently also had two styles of the small knobs, the round ones like my set has and also the X style knobs that matched the Channel Selector.
I'm thinking it might be useful to learn to cast small plastic parts, like knobs. |

They can even print assembled models & ball bearings with moving parts. There's a video with Jay Leno where they print a working (though useless) plastic crescent wrench! A channel knob would probably be childs play for a machine like that. |

I found a place called "The Packaging Store" who would do it for almost $200 less than C&F, Picked up, packed, put on a pallet and shipped freight to my door. Hopefully they are as good as C&F, the guy I talked to seemed professional and knowledgeable about shipping fragile items so I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Casting isn't hard. I tried it for a front panel on an Emerson figural radio: http://antiqueradio.org/EmersonSnowWhite247.htm . Some knobs might be trickier, but it's still basically something you can do on top of your clothes dryer.
