ETF Convention pony express

Chris (Carmine) asked that I post this for him, as he has been really busy lately.
He will be in the Toledo, Ohio area this weekend and possibly at the Convention if he can make it. If anyone is in the need of getting a set from around here, or needs to get one up this way, shoot him an email!

Exclamation

Hello,

I've been pretty busy lately, but have decided to go check out the TV convention since I always say that I want to go, but then miss it...

Can someone give me an idea what the event is like? Is it just a big all-day swap meet at the museum? (I've been there once about 3 years ago, no event going on.) I know the museum asks for a donation to admit, but is there an extra cost for the convention? I'll probably just have time to stop in, look at the museum, shop the swap meet (buy something?) and leave. I would be there early as possible on Saturday, as I also have to be at a Detroit-area Auto Auction on Friday night/Sunday morning.

I'm going to borrow Dwight's Chrysler minivan, so I can haul stuff down with me to connect with people who want the sets. (old TV man, Doug?) Then I am going to pick up a combo for Dwight in Toledo.

Let's make this happen!

I have a 1971 RCA color console that Dwight wants. If anyone from in or around the chicago area is going to the ETF and has a vehicle capable of transporting it, please let me know as Chris would be able to bring it back to Detroit.
Thanks-

And if that same person is going back to Chicago, I'd love to give you a few sets for Doug, and get them out of my basement!!

I want to bump this and see what I can get out of my basement!

I'd also like to hear what the "convention" is like... Since this is a last-minute plan, I'd like to know if myself and a guest would be able to tour the museum and swap area for a museum donation, or am I required to sign-up and be official? The website doesn't really make that clear..?

$30 each to attend the convention (this supports the hosting cost for the presentations, which you will want to see) - pay at the door

There is an additional charge of $30 for the Saturday night banquet (no presentations there), but I think reservations for that may be closed now - probably too late to add servings.

It appears this isn't going to happen. Chris, if you don't mind, please hang onto those sets, I'm still interested in them. I'll make a run up to Detroit again sometime this summer I'm sure. The three of us can do some TV trading then.

Doug and Old_TV_Nut,

Dwight's minivan was not available to me, thus I had nothing capable of hauling a large TV set. Plus, since I wouldn't be attending any of the presentations (although I'd like to) due to time constraints it was hard to justify $60 just to pop-in.

I hope we can work out something in the future and get everybody the sets they desire.

We'll make contact I'm sure. Working on editing photos of the convention, will give notice when they're posted.
