It sold. I got an email that this had been relisted and immediately is sold:

This is a like new 1950-ish Motorola console that works.
I would think if someone wanted a working TV and could not restore it themselves, this is a very reasonable price.

What do you think?

Considering the cost of labor I think that's right.

Still, that is very high for a set like that. It just shows how variable the market is - that set might not have brought $100 on another day.

Not many folks in the market to buy - and converesely not many being offered for sale. At least around here, very few are offered for sale.

The listing doesn't mention restoration. If they have never replaced the old electrolytics, it's a minor miracle that it would work that well. I hope it doesn't poof in a few hours and disappoint the buyer.

That seems like a pretty penny. I could imagine someone paying that if fully restored, but you could normally buy four or five 1950s consoles for that price.

Just my $0.02.

I think this is one of those cases where condition counts, the seller said it looks like new and judging by the close up of the control panel that may be the case, plus it works well.

It's also in California, if someone in Hollywood needed a set for a production then $575 is a mere pittance to them.

I'm thinking this is a 48 or 49 model with a TS-9 chassis also, not 1950's?

Sure. Those are rare sets in great condition. I've paid about $75 on average for each of mine. The least was free

and the most was under $200.

Yes. Both high-demand 1940s items in rarely-seen condition. Add 10 years to those manufacture dates and you can divide the prices by 100.

I think you obtained your sets back "pre-Flat Panel days" when they were perceived as junk. I think those days are long gone.

Nope, I actually got every one of my sets in the last two years. Some from craiglslist, some from local antique/resale shops, some from VK members. I'm sure being in or near a big city helps.

I see plenty of sets going for $50 or less - even on eBay. It's the shipping that usually limits the bidding. It costs a lot and is a big risk to ship these big old sets.
